Roger Bernadina injures calf playing Winter Ball
Outfielder Roger Bernadina, who was playing for Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan Winter League, suffered a grade one strain of his right calf after slipping on home plate in the rain.
Bernadina returned to DC and was recently examined by Nationals Medical Director Wiemi Douoguih who put him on a two-week strength and conditioning program. He is expected to fully return to activity, which includes further play in the Winter League.
Prior to the injury, the 24-year old was hitting .125 with one home run and three runs scored in 11 games with Bravos de Margarita. This past season the left-handed hitting Bernadina hit .334 with nine homers and 54 RBI for Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Harrisburg. He hit .211 with two RBI and 10 runs in 26 games with the Nationals.
