Sunday, November 30:
Roch Kubatko weighs in on the latest O's rumor: "If the Orioles acquire Pie, he would serve as a left-handed hitting left fielder. Not exactly a crying need on this team, but it tells me that the Orioles are preparing for life without Mark Teixeira at first base - or anybody else outside the organization." [masnsports.com]

Ken Rosenthal agrees with Jeff Zrebiec and Peter Schmuck: "A team might value a player such as outfielder Felix Pie more than the Padres do; the Orioles are again talking with the Cubs about Pie..." [Fox Sports]

Saturday, November 29:
Roch Kubatko wonders what the O's decision will be on Daniel Cabrera: "The Orioles still haven't decided what to do with pitcher Daniel Cabrera, but they have until Dec. 12 to figure it out." [masnsports.com]

"Thirty-three years ago on this date, Orioles 3B Brooks Robinson and O's CF Paul Blair were awarded their final Gold Gloves." [masnsports.com]

Could the Orioles be the third team in the Jake Peavy trade: "The Orioles have revisited trade talks with the Cubs about outfielder Felix Pie, according to industry sources, and could end up as the third team in a three-way deal that would send marquee right-hander Jake Peavy from the San Diego Padres to Chicago." [Baltimore Sun]

Camden Chat wonders why there is no interest in Adam Dunn: "[Andy] MacPhail should be considering Dunn as plan B if they don't get their main targets. But Dunn and his agent are probably waiting for Tex and Manny to sign and set the market or something." [Camden Chat]

Friday, November 28:
Roch Kubatko writes about the A.J. Burnett situation: "[Baltimore] would be a nice situation for [Burnett]. He'd be the clear-cut No. 1 starter on a young staff, he could serve as a mentor and he'd be close to Monkton - though exactly how close, I'm not sure." [masnsports.com]

Dan Connolly reports on the O's interest in Japanese free agents: "[T]his class might be a perfect fit for the Orioles' fledgling foray in Japan. No apparent superstars and perhaps no bidding wars. But two pitchers, in particular, who could help the Orioles fill out their rotation." [Baltimore Sun]

Jack Curry writes that A.J. Burnett and Mark Teixeira may not sign in Baltimore: "As the Orioles wait for their young players to blossom and talk about the worst-to-first Tampa Bay Rays as a model, they find themselves being tempted in the free-agent market. First baseman Mark Teixeira and pitcher A. J. Burnett, two of the most prominent available players, have connections to Maryland." [New York Times]

Thursday, November 27:
Jeff Zrebiec reports on Wayne Krivsky: "[Andy] MacPhail said he anticipates Krivsky, who will start his duties Monday and attend the winter meetings early next month, will be involved in all aspects of major league operations, including scouting and contract negotiations." [Baltimore Sun]

Wednesday, November 26:
"A little front office news: The Orioles have hired former Cincinnati Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky as a special assistant to the president of baseball operations" [masnsports.com]

O's Buzz Blog takes a deeper look at Wayne Krivsky: "Krivsky has spent time with the Rangers, Twins and Mets, with scouting and player evaluation experience at all levels of development." [masnsports.com]

Michael Silverman says the Red Sox could have interest in Ramon Hernandez: "The Sox will not wait to settle the Varitek issue before deciding on a Plan B. They refuse to even say if signing Varitek is Plan A, and according to baseball sources yesterday, the team is completing due diligence on many other options." [Boston Herald]

In addition to Mark Teixeira CBS Sportsline thinks the Orioles will have interest in Jason Giambi: "He won't get anything near the $120 million, seven-year deal it took for the Yankees to sign him away from Oakland, but after hitting 32 home runs in 2008, Giambi should be able to find a job." [cbs.sportsline.com]

Oriole Post is in favor of the O's signing Nick Markakis quickly: "I'm an advocate of giving Nick Markakis a deal sooner, rather than later -- not because I'm feeling sorry for or want him to be secure -- because he's shown himself to be one of the best right fielders in baseball, and he may not have reached the top of his athletic ceiling." [Oriole Post]

Dempsey's Army looks back at Mike Mussina's career: "So, a couple of items to look at from Mussina's long career. Is he a Hall of Famer?" [Dempsey's Army]

Peter Schmuck ponders if the O's should sign A.J. Burnett: "Of course, nobody outside that house knows for sure, though there have been apocryphal tales aplenty of his telling Orioles players how much he would like to pitch in Baltimore." [Baltimore Sun]

Tuesday, November 25:
Steve Melewski says the O's are interested in foreign arms: "Major League sources say the O's have shown interest in four players from Japan who are now free agents, and three of them are pitchers." [masnsports.com]

Roch Kubatko asks who should catch for the O's next season: "If the Orioles decide to start Matt Wieters at Triple-A Norfolk next season, would you prefer having Ramon Hernandez remain the starter" [masnsports.com]

Steve Melewski writes about Brandon Snyder: "Snyder said a goal for 2009 is to be invited to the big league camp in Ft. Lauderdale." [masnsports.com]

O's Buzz Blog looks at the total of money raised from the O's old road jerseys: "The grand total from the auction appears to be a little more than $11,000, which will benefit the Shannon's Fund." [masnsports.com]

Dan Connolly reports that A.J. Burnett has narrowed his list of teams: "Burnett's agent, Darek Braunecker, said he had a "real nice conversation" with Orioles president Andy MacPhail on Friday and that his client, who makes his offseason home in Monkton, is genuinely interested in playing here." [Baltimore Sun]

Monday, November 24:
Roch Kubatko reports Troy Patton has made progress in his rehab: "Here's the part you really want to hear if you're an Orioles fan: Patton eventually will engage in the same throwing program as everyone else, as if the surgery never took place. He'll start cranking it up around Dec. 15, making sure to get his arm loose with light tosses before graduating to a long-toss program." [masnsports.com]

Steve Melewski takes a look at an O's prospect: "When you are coming off an incredible college season, yet struggle in your first season in the pros, it can test a player's confidence.

But Robbie Widlansky, the Orioles' 11th-round pick out of Florida Atlantic University in 2007, proved this past summer that he can hit and might be someone to watch as he makes his way up the ladder of the farm system." [masnsports.com]

Mark Teixeira says he wants to have a contract by Christmas: "During Thursday's telecast of the Georgia Tech-Miami football game in Atlanta, free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira told ESPN he wants a baseball team for Christmas." [Baltimore Sun]

Fred Faour reflects on the Miguel Tejada trade: "Outfielder Luke Scott, one of the throw-ins in the deal, hit .257 with 23 homers and 65 RBIs for the Orioles. In addition, the Astros gave up two of their best pitching prospects -- Matt Albers and Troy Patton. Patton was injured in the spring and did not pitch. Albers was 3-3 with a 3.49 ERA, which would have ranked fourth on the Astros' staff." [Houston Sports Examiner]

Oriole Post thinks O's fans need to be patient with Andy MacPhail: "So far, I'd say [MacPhail's] done a decent job and of course his two most notable deals involved the trade of Erik Bedard and Miguel Tejada in exchange for prospects and everyday major leaguers (Adam Jones, serviceable Luke Scott, George Sherrill)." [Oriole Post]
