Jacksonville will try to spoil Ravens' postseason plans
The Jacksonville Jaguars, who face the Ravens in the final game of the regular season, squandered a 10-point, fourth quarter lead last Thursday night and lost to the Indianapolis Colts 31-24.
The Jags scored on four of their five drives through three quarters, with three touchdowns and a field goal, but failed to convert on any of their four possessions in the fourth quarter, dropping their record to 5-10.
Jacksonville had a chance to tie the game on the last play of the game, a second-and-goal from the 7-yard line, but David Garrard was sacked by defensive end Dwight Freeney, allowing the clock to expire.
"Just can't take a sack right there," Garrard said. "I really didn't see it and have an opportunity to elude that guy. I thought I had guys coming open."
The only thing the Jaguars have to play for in Week 17 is pride. If they can knock off the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, Baltimore would need help to reach the post-season. It won't be easy for Jacksonville, who has lost seven of nine and are 3-4 on the road.
The spoiler role will suit the Jags just fine since the season that began with so much promise ended much too early for head coach Jack Del Rio. One thing Jacksonville has on their side is the fact that they have 10 days to prepare for the Ravens, but 10 days may not be enough.
