Injury updates
I have two of them for you:
Rich Hill still isn't ready to throw, choosing instead to rest another day and shoot for tomorrow.
"It feels real good, though," he said. "It's a lot better."
Hill talked about getting his left elbow "back to normal" and said it's 95 percent there. He'll wait until he's 100 percent before attempting to play catch or return to the mound.
Hill is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday in Jupiter, but it's becoming more doubtful. I'll check with manager Dave Trembley after batting practice.
Brad Hennessey, also sidelined with a sore elbow, will play catch again today for the second time in three days. He made 25 throws from 60 feet on Tuesday and said he didn't feel any discomfort the next morning.
"I'll see how it goes today and see what they have in mind after that. So far, so good," he said.
"There was no pain the next day (Wednesday), so that's a good sign. I hope today goes as well and we'll build from there. I was worried the other day after throwing. I was tentative after what happened. I didn't know how it was going to react."

what would you think of a rotation of guthrie, uehara, hill, penn and bergesen with a bullpen of sherill (though i think he should be traded for a couple of young players) johnson, ray, sarfate, albers, pauley, walker or another lefty like waters or perez and maybe liz or mccory

Albers mentioned that it takes him longer to warm up with the labrum tear. Not sure the bullpen is a good fit right now. - Roch
I think the injuries this spring show how much good luck the Orioles have had. If this were any time over the last 10 years, these sore shoulders and elbows would've been much worse where they would've been out for 12-18 months for Tommy John surgery. It just seems like all of our pitching prospects had this problem.
What's Kurt Ainsworth up to these days?
Do you have any inside information on some of the between innings segments that will be played on the Scoreboard this year? Are they bringing back This or That? I would LOVE a Koji Joke of the Day! Any word?

They're bringing back This or That. This is all I know about that. - Roch
Roch,
Is fluid on the elbow something that can be drawn off? I have had fluid removed from my knee and was wondering if the same could be done for the elbow to hasten the recovery time.

I wish I had an answer for you, but that's a little out of my skill set. Is there a doctor in the house? - Roch
I didn't know that Albers needs more time to warm up, which hurts his chances of being in the 'pen. He might be served best to go to Norfolk and start until he can shorten the warmup time. He was excellent in the 'pen last year. Of course, he could be the fourth or fifth starter as well. Maybe the rotation leaving ST looks like this:
Jeremy Guthrie RHP
Koji Uehara RHP
Rich Hill LHP (if healthy)
Adam Eaton RHP
Hayden Penn RHP
Bergesen gets the first call-up if an injury occurs because he's a ground ball pitcher who throws strikes.
The one thing you will get out of Guthrie, Uehara, and Eaton are innings and they will be around the plate. Hill and Penn are out of options but they have too much youth and upside to lose to a waiver claim. They will stick.
I wish there was one more lefty in that rotation, but you can only work with what you have until the baby birds mature.
Roch,
Please excuse me for a moment while I stray way off topic.
1) To "Deployed Al"....my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for all that you do and the sacrifices you make for our country. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it and those that don't can kiss my (and your)A_S. Be safe, kick some butt and get home soon. Thank you Al.
2) To "Bucktail" (and all the other regular readers/posters on this blog), regarding Jack, how about we just don't say another darn thing about any of his posts, that just fuels his fire. Let him post what he wants (it is a free country thanks to people like "Deployed Al") so let's just boycott him and just maybe he'll go away. If not, no harm no foul, just don't pay any attention to him and don't comment about his posts.
Speaking of between inning segments, I have a good feeling this is the year Mustard wins the Esskay hot dog race around the bases.
Who you picking Roch?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure yet. Need to check on ketchup's strained oblique. But I do relish the thought of watching the races 81 times. - Roch
Someone needs to keep stats on the K/M/R Race.
I guess it is better to play it safe and not risk anything further...at least both are not real serious injuries..
I take it you got a good sleep last night Roch to toss out the "I do relish" line. Good one.
And Mike, the last time I remember an in-season update for the Esskay race was '07. Didn't see any in the 20 or so games I went out to last year.
