From the west coast...
| | Comments (6)

Hello NatsTown,

Here we are into our west coast trip, LA - SF - AZ. Frisco is one of my favorite places - shopping for shoes and great seafood by the Bay.

But okay, enough about the west coast...How about the kids in the starting rotation? After having a rough time the first two times through, they have thrown the ball very well.

And for the record, they are all kids - the oldest one is 27 years old (Cabrera). Olsen and Lannan have pitched a lot better than the numbers show, and the pair of 22-year-olds have been a pleasure to watch. Daniel has been keeping us in the game, despite not having the consistency and command that we are expecting out of him.

Zimmermann's game vs. the NY Mets last Sunday showed us a lot. He went right after that dangerous line-up with no fear and the poise of a 10-year veteran.

Shairon's gem the other day was a beauty as well - first complete game in three years. The only two games that I can remember being as well pitched were: Lannan vs. the Orioles in Baltimore, and Bergmann's bid for a no hitter against The Braves at old RFK.

So, we are happy that our young starters are making strides, and hopefully our bullpen continues to improve. Beimel is back, so that's good news.

How about R- Zimm's streak?... Pretty sweet... He is maturing as a hitter and that's good news for NatsTown and bad news for the rest of the league. He is using the whole field, and for the first time in a while, he doesn't feel like he has to be the guy in every game. Having a deeper line-up helps big time.

Well, May has already been kinder than April so far. So I'll catch up with you guys from the west coast. I'm definitely counting on coming back with a lot more wins than shoes...

And remember, anger is the way a fool deals with conflict.

Take Care NatsTown,

-MA

Keep up the great work, Manny. I'm a converted Cubs fan... I was one for 25 years, but I'm hooked on the Nats now and I'm not going anywhere. We have a solid lineup and I appreciate the tough job you have and the way you're handling it day in and day out. You guys are heading in the right direction. Great win last night over the Dodgers, by the way! GO NATS!

Why do you feel the need to replace dunn late in the ball games with the pitcher spot? It's been a couple times this year and a couple games have been lost because of it. Don't you feel that he should be in the whole game to get the most runs possible?

I love that we are the ones to end the Dodgers streak! Especially the first game after Ramirez gets suspended. Keep it up Manny!

My last post didn't make it through for some reason. Anyway, another nice win last night. How about that Austin Kearns-Jesus Flores combo?

Dear Manny, the 'Nats are playing some exciting, intelligent, FUN baseball lately! It's thrilling to see. Logan Kensing and Alex Cintron seem to be really struggling though. What can we even say about Ryan Zimmerman? Every game is a 150% effort. He's amazing. Josh Willingham has really turned it on lately, and it sure would be great to see him play more. How do you feel about the team's progress? What are you most happy with, and what would you like to see improved? Thank you. It sure has been a treat watching those Nationals these days!

Hi Manny.
Are you waiting to bring Jesus Colome up on Friday before Kensing gets DFA?
