Reimold's three-run blast gives O's walk-off win
In the wildest O's game of the year, Nolan Reimold hit a three-run, walk-off homer in the last of the 11th inning as the Orioles beat Toronto, 12-10 Wednesday afternoon.
The O's went to the last of the 11th down 10-8. Nick Markakis led off with a single and, one out later, Melvin Mora singled. After a Luke Scott RBI single pulled the O's within 10-9, Reimold came up to bat.
He ripped a Brian Wolfe pitch out to left center on a line drive for a game-winning homer. It's his fourth homer of the season and 4th in eight games.
Aaron Hill's two-run homer in the top of the 11th, his 12th of the season, gave Toronto a 10-8 lead. Toronto has lost nine in a row and finished its road trip at 0-9.
The O's gained their first three-game win streak of the year and first three-game sweep since last June vs. Houston.
The O's went to the last of the 8th down 8-3. They tied the game with a five-run, five-hit frame vs. Jesse Carlson and Scott Downs. Roy Halladay was removed with Toronto ahead by five after he threw 102 pitches over seven innings.
In the 8th, the O's got RBI from Chad Moeller, Robert Andino, Brian Roberts, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis.
For most of the afternoon, it looked like Halladay would pick up his Major League-leading 9th win. After Toronto scored six runs in the 4th, Toronto led 7-2.
In the second, Luke Scott, back off the disabled list today, hit a two-run homer off Halladay for a 2-1 O's lead. Jones' RBI single in the 5th scored the O's third run.

It looks like the O's have found their permanent LF. I thought it was over after the Jays had the 6 run inning and knocked Hill out of the game but the bullpen continues to do well. The great thing about baseball is that it ain't over till it's over. I could write an essay on this game but I have to watch the postgame show.
Steve,
I am going to say I told you so - Nolan Reimold outplayed Pie by far in ST and earned the job and look at the difference now. Reimold is a five tool talent with 70 power, 70 arm, good speed, good defense with a fine batting eye (btw, he did walk in the 9th inning - the Ump missed that pitch). Pie should be the one to be DFAed (Olson is pitching nicely for the Mariners as I suspected he would - smart guy w/decent stuff) when Wieters comes up and let Reimold play in CF to give Jones a rest.

As I remember, the disagreement was not over Reimold's play, but whether Pie should have gotten a shot. I said he should have gotten it. He hasn't played well and now Reimold is here to stay. I wrote that after he was here five days.
I broadcast Aberdeen games when Reimold played there, I knew he could play and know his talents as well as anyone around here. I've been telling the other media guys for two years that the guy can play strong defense.
The O's DID THE RIGHT THING sending him to Triple-A. He tore up that league and came here full of confidence. He admits he was called up, in his words, "at the perfect time." No one can say if he could have done this from day one, but in a season that won't end in the playoffs, the O's took a shot they should have with Pie.
Reimold got here sooner that most probably thought and the O's left field job should be locked up by him for the forseeable future as far as I am concerned.
Steve
And people wonder why we want to see the young talent?
Just an unbeleivable game. I wonder how many HR's Reimold would have if he had started with the team out of ST. We'll never know. Just wanta savor this one.
