A player to build a team around
| | Comments (10)

Who makes the call to stretch a single into a double or to send a runner home from second?

Where does Rich Hill fit into the Orioles pitching staff in the long term?

What does the Skipper think of the O's first-round draft pick Matt Hobgood?

Orioles Manager Dave Trembley sat down with MASN's Roch Kubatko to answer these questions and more in another segment for his weekly video journal.

Watch Tremley's interview with Roch and you'll also learn which Major League player Dave Trembley would build a team around if he had the choice and why he waits 24 hours before approaching a player after a mishap on the field.

Have a question for Dave Trembley like one of the ones listed above? Use the comment box below to submit your own question for Dave and he might answer yours in his next entry from the Mariners' Safeco Field!

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS NOTICED THAT BRIAN ROBERTS IS NOT RUNNING DOWN TO FIRST BASE AS HARD AS HE CAN , I LIKE ROBERTS ALOT ,BUT I DON'T SEE 100% ANYMORE LATELY, EVERYONR ONE ON THE TEAM SHOULD RUN TO FIRST LIKE REIMOLD DOE'S

Your right Dave.As a former player and coach, I should know the situation when even in the dugout, playing or not. Especially with the play in front of me. And if Im not sure, I would ask. But I, as a player, should know the situation all the time. Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken where fine examples of this.

24 hour rule is a great rule for everyone.

Are you not excited Dave with the rapid developement of our minor leagues?

Good luck and have fun!

Hey dave,

I was wondering if you had to pick one oriole to represent the team in the 2009 all star gme, who would you pick?

Staten Island Mike said:

Is there any way we sign Pulous? That would be a great thing. The orioles always say to sign a Bat and develop pitching.

Brady said:

Hey Dave, Do you think Brian Matusz will be in the starting rotation on opening day next year?

Brady said:

Hey, Dave, If Koji comes off the DL and still has fatigue problems, would you want to move him into the bullpen.

SKIPPER

WHEN YOU GO OUT TO DISCUSS A SITUATION OR PLAY WITH AN UMPIRE:

ARE YOU LISTING FOR A RULES APPLICATION OR THE UMPIRES OWN RATIONALIZATION ON WHY HE MADE THE JUDGMENT CALL THAT WAY?

IF YOU FEEL A NEED TO ARGUE, HOW DO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS TO THE UMPIRE?

DO YOU USE THE TWENTY-FOUR HOUR RULE BEFORE DISCUSSING ANY EJECTION?

GO NOTRE DAME

In spring training, you said that you "would love to have Matusz" in the rotation. Do you forsee him being in the rotation by April of next year, and would you like to see Tillman, Arrieta, and/or Patton this September?

Dave, why don't you leave a pitcher who is pitching well late into a game in that game until he gets in trouble? Taking him out in what appears to be for speculative reasons drives us fans nuts.

Thanks Dave for your talk with brian Roberts. He's played a lot better. It's a long season and heis face some tough pitching. I look forward to a gread secon half from BROb.
