Behind the scenes tour of Ravens HQ
Ever wanted a look inside The Castle?
Ever wanted to know why Ravens headquarters is even called The Castle?
Well, both of those dreams can now be realized.
No, I didn't smuggle a camera into the team's Owings Mills complex during the final minicamp a week ago, this behind the scenes look is completely legit.
Derrick Mason and Ray Rice teamed up with the NFL Network to take their crew around the grounds and give everyone an inside look at what have been called "the best facilities in the entire league" by more than a few people.
Seriously, the place is gorgeous, and it really is built like a castle. It's complete with a putting green out front, a basketball court inside (which I didn't know existed until I saw this piece) and a nice player lounge with a pool table and plasma TVs.
Mase and Ray try their hand at golf and bball respectively in the clip, and let's just say it's not too pretty.
You can check out all of that by watching this really cool video, and you'll even catch a peek of me during the locker room portion of the clip.
Ma, I'm famous!
If you're bored at work and are looking to fill even more of your Purple and Black fix, watch the Ravens videos towards the bottom of the screen.
The "Coach Harbaugh feature" and the "Joe Flacco interview" are both pretty good, and in the latter, Mason is the one asking the questions, so you can get a feel for the goofy dynamic between the quarterback and wide receiver.

That was awesome...I watched it on "Total Access" last night. It's always cool to see what your team is like off the field, and it is true, those facilities are just beautiful. To me, what makes something like that segment nice, is you see that that is an actual job for those players and coaches. They are there day and night like all of us are at our respected places of employment. I know they make millions and are more famous than we probably will ever be, and they play a game for a living, but pro football is still an occupation to everyone involved, and I think that's pretty neat. I may sound corny, but that's how I feel.
There appears to be such a high level of camaraderie among everyone, which I totally feel translates onto the field. I never in all my years rooting for the Ravens have anticipated an upcoming season as I do this one. I think Rice will break out this year, and Joe is going into his second full season as the undisputed starter at QB, which is finally nice to say about a Ravens quarterback. Other than a possible Flacco sophomore slump, which I truly believe will NOT happen, I think we are primed for something special in '09.
I too love these segments where you get to see the players interacting like that. Thanks for passing it along Dan
