Four Nats errors cost them in 7-5 loss in 7
Four Nationals errors, three by third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, cost Washington as they dropped their eighth straight game to the Marlins, 7-5, in a rain-shortened affair in Florida.
Rookie right-hander Craig Stammen pitched pretty well, leaving the game in the sixth with a 5-4 lead, but once again, the bullpen failed to hold the mighty Marlins off the board.
Right-hander Tyler Clippard and lefty Joel Beimel gave up three unearned runs as the defense failed when it looked like the Nationals would finally beat the Marlins.
Zimmerman made two throwing and a fielding error, and Josh Willingham dropped an easy out, leading to four unearned runs.
The Nationals jumped out to a 5-1 lead an RBI double and two-run homer from Adam Dunn and a two-run single from Stammen, the first RBI's of his career.
Washington looks to salvage the series finale tomorrow afternoon.
