Jones out of game
| | Comments (16)

Adam Jones has been removed from tonight's game in the top of the third inning after crashing into the fence while chasing Kevin Youkilis' home run in the first.

Jones' right shoulder appeared to absorb most of the impact, and his neck can't be feeling too good, either.

The Orioles will pass along more information as it becomes available. For now, they're saying he came out for precautionary reasons and is day-to-day.

In the meantime, Felix Pie has replaced Jones in center field, and the Red Sox are winning, 4-0.

Brian and Brian--Felix's triple is his way of letting you know that he won't be available to babysit both of you after the game.

I can't watch this joke of a [Hill] pitcher pitch any longer. He stinks. He's just no good.. As for the other players - Totally uninspired group of jerks... I'm done for tonight - Almost didn't make it out of the first inning.. Rubbish. Anyone happen to know what else is on? Is House new tonight? Whats good?

kinda funny that other than pie, everyone else is playing loserball.

I should add that I hope Mr. Jones feels better soon. I hope it is nothing serious. Seriously. Good move pulling him out. We've already lost this game... and his health is more important than this game.

IS THERE ANYONE AT NORFOLK THAT CAN HELP? CHRIS WATERS, CHRIS TILLMAN, HECK DAVID PAULEY COULDNT BE ANY WORSE THAN RICH HILL.

Heck yea! Felix got that OBP and SLG each over .300. He's hit in four straight games, and he's waking up. Go Felix!

Now 8-1 as I write this.

We may as well not even play these games against BOS at Camden Yards. Just give the Red Sox the win and save us the agony of watching them frolic in their personal downtown Baltimore playground while their fans (which always out-number and out-vocalize ours) make it seem just like a home game for them.

I much more enjoy watching the O's play BOS at Fenway Park. The O's seem more relaxed there than they do at their own ballpark when playing this team.

This up and coming O's team has to get over this hump with BOS before we can so that they are anywhere close to having "arrived."

The ball seemed to be in the glove when it went over the fence. Anyone else see that? Hope Adam is O.K. great attempt. Nice to Felix hitting the ball some lately.... unfortunately he was watching the ball all the way to second and third! No looks to the third base coach at all. His head looked like the exorcist's running to third and watching the fielder in right center.

I remain a fan of Rich Hill. But he's not ready for prime time. The velocity and location of his fastball are not currently at a major league level, and hitters are just sitting on the breaking ball since it's ironically the only one he consistently throws for strikes.

I say we try to pass him through waivers, get him down to Norfolk and let him refine his mechanics away from the scrutiny of the big leagues. I don't think you ever give up on someone with that kind of curveball, but, as of now, he's gotta break down his delivery with a minor league pitching instructor and build it back up from scratch.

Will somebody please tell Dave that, just as he argued, the replay confirmed that Varitek was not hit by the pitch?

Dave, please go out there between innings and get thrown out of the game.

I know it will take time but I was hoping for more progress in the starting rotation. The pitching staff overall is 3rd worst in baseball (both ERA and WHIP). The only consistent starters are Bergesen and Koji. But since Koji is always injured or only going 5 innings he isn't helping the bullpen much.

At this point I don't think the Orioles can afford to keep Hill and Berken in the rotation unless Guthie and Hernandez can start going deeper in the game. Might be time to move down Berken and hope to get someone who can last more than 3-4 innings since back to back games with Berken/Hill destroys the bullpen.

Thats it, as soon as we're down by 10 runs I'm bailing!

Best part of a rain delay? Listening to Tom Davis. Any takers? We're lucky to have someone like that in Baltimore. I'm sure that most of the older teams would have someone similar to Tom D., but doesn't make it any less special for us...

Roch: Any (ahem) older, well-versed, baseball person from Baltimore or anywhere that you enjoy listening to tell stories? Comparing new to old etc...? (I like Jim Palmer too, but he's just not Tom Davis).

Shout outs for HTS? The good ole days... Tom Davis, John Loewenstein, and some other people that I can't think of now.

I miss Brother Lo. I really enjoy talking to Palmer about some of his past starts. The guy remembers every detail from an at-bat that took place in a game in 1970. He'll tell you the exact count and what he threw. It's amazing. Not that I go back and check. I prefer to think he's 100 percent accurate. - Roch
