Live from Bowie

I am reporting from the press box at Prince George's Stadium where tonight lefty Brian Matusz will make his Double-A debut on the mound at 7:05 p.m. when Bowie hosts Reading.

As of 4:50 p.m., the tarp is on the field here, but there is not much rain in the area and Baysox officials are confident of an on time start.

Tonight, the first 1,000 fans here get a Matt Wieters figurine. Some fans are lining up at the gates already to get that collectible.

Matusz went 4-2, 2.16 in 11 starts at Frederick. He leaves the Carolina League with the 3rd best ERA in the league and is first in strikeouts with 75 in 66 2/3 innings.

Matusz has pitched 23 consecutive scoreless innings. The mark would be 27 but his last start was rained out after four innings. He had not allowed a run but no stats from that game count.

Since May first, Matusz is 2-1, 1.60 in seven starts.

Here is tonight's Baysox lineup:
LF - Jonathon Tucker
SS - Robert Valido
1B - Brandon Snyder
3B - Mike Costanzo
2B - Miguel Abreu
DH - Dave Krynzel
RF - Ambiorix Concepcion
CF - Danny Figueroa
C - Adam Donachie

The Baysox begin play tonight at 33-30. They have won three of four and seven of the last ten games. They are 16-10 at home.

Tonight's game is the second of a six-game homestand.
