Lots of new faces

Rookie camp sure may not be the most thrilling thing in the world to watch, but it gives you a chance to see a little more of the guys who normally creep under the radar during full-squad practices.

Defensive back Lardarius Webb practiced today without the red "no-contact" jersey that he's donned for most of the team's minicamps thus far this offseason. Apparently his hamstring was feeling well enough today that he could give it a full-go, and so the third-round pick got some time in the secondary and also returning punts.

Webb still wasn't moving anywhere close to full speed on the returns, but it was good to see him move around a bit.

Prior to this week, quarterback Drew Willy has been stuck just participating in individual drills because of the presence of Joe Flacco, Troy Smith and John Beck. But with all three of those guys gone, this week has been Willy's chance to really show off his arm for the first time.

The former University of Buffalo signal-caller looked OK, although with four new receivers at practice on a tryout basis, it must have been tough on him throwing to a number of guys who he had never met prior to yesterday.

Kicker Graham Gano is getting plenty of solo work this week with Steve Hauschka not around, and he's making the most of the opportunity. Gano booted through a 60-yarder mid-way through practice, and did so with some players and coaches talking trash in his ear to try and distract him.

Part of the University of Delaware coaching staff was here today as well, including head coach K.C. Keeler. I went to UD and know Keeler from my time there, so I got to catch up with him for a few minutes after practice.

Keeler mentioned that he knows a number of the Ravens coaches and he obviously knows Joe Flacco a bit, so his staff was invited to camp today to check things out. Flacco even came out to say hello to the whole gang during the practice.

Heading back in to Baltimore now; more on today's camp later in the afternoon.

As of now, does Gano look like he has the starting job for this season? what kicker has looked better.

Rich,
I think Hauschka has a bit of an edge to this point. He seems a little more consistant, but Gano definitely isn't out of it by any means. That's a job that will fought for throughout training camp.

what is Gano's and Haushka's maximum ranges?

Rich,
Gano hit the 60 today, but that was without much of a rush from the defense and perfect weather conditions. Still pretty impressive though. We saw Hauschka connect from 54 against the Texans last season and he's hit from the 56ish range a couple times so far this offseason.
