Mock, Spradlin honored
Right-hander Garrett Mock won a pair of starts this week by posting a 0.60 ERA in a League-best 15 innings pitched to earn International League Pitcher of the Week.
Mock, who was optioned from Washington earlier this season after 13 relief appearances, is thriving as a starter for Syracuse.
On Monday he threw the first shutout of his professional career against Columbus, marking his first complete game in nearly five years. Mock needed just 96 pitches, 70 of which were strikes, over nine innings.
He struck out ten batters while allowing no walks and just three hits.
Sunday at Pawtucket, Mock earned an important victory for the Chiefs, who moved ahead of the Red Sox by a half-game for sole possession of 2nd place in the IL North.
Mock surrendered one run on six hits in six innings, and Syracuse won 6-2. Since returning from Washington in late May, Mock has posted a 2.16 ERA in six starts.
Jack Spradlin was named Eastern League POW by pitching eight scoreless innings in relief for Harrisburg allowing just two hits, no walks while striking out 10 batters during the week of June 22-28th.
On June 26th he earned a save, his third of the year, by striking out four batters over three scoreless and hitless innings.
For the month of June, Jack is 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA and has 18 strikeouts, four walks in 18 2/3 innings pitched.
