Nationals Acquire Infielder Mike Morse from Mariners
The Washington Nationals today acquired infielder Mike Morse from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for outfielder Ryan Langerhans. Nationals Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Baseball Operations Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Morse, 27, will be assigned to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. A third-round selection of the White Sox in 2000, Morse is a .300 (90-for-300) career hitter with 18 doubles, three home runs and 37 RBI in 107 big league games with Seattle from 2005-08.
At the time of the trade, Morse was batting .312 (81-for-260) with 14 doubles and 10 home runs in 66 games with Tacoma of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. His 52 RBI rank 10th in the PCL.
Langerhans, 29, hit .212 (58-for-273) with 11 doubles, four triples, nine home runs and 34 RBI in 176 games with the Nationals spanning two (2007-08) seasons.
