Play ball in Aberdeen
| | Comments (0)

We are now underway at posh Ripken Stadium. It's the home opener with the 1-1 Aberdeen IronBirds hosting the 0-2 Staten Island Yankees.

RHP Kenny Moreland is on the mound for Aberdeen and LHP Francisco Rondon for Staten Island.

It's a great night for a ballgame and this is one of the best parks in the all of the minors to watch one. The IronBirds just concluded a nice pregame ceremony with both clubs introduced and Aberdeen players lining up along the first base line and Staten Island along third base.

Julienne Irwin, season two finalist of America's Got Talent, sang the national anthem. Duff Goldman of the Food Network and Baltimore's Charm City Cakes, threw out the first pitch.

Check back through the evening for updates from Ripken Stadium.

MINOR LEAGUE MOVE - The Frederick Keys today added RHP Joe Esposito from Delmarva, where he was 3-0, 1.08 pitching out of the bullpen. In 33 1/3 innings, Esposito has fanned 52.

Lefty Brett Bordes was put on the DL, retroactive to June 21st, to make roster room.
