Jon Lester beat the Orioles once again. He gave up just five hits, all singles, in seven innings. Only one Oriole reached second base against him during his dominant, 108-pitch outing.

Lester joins Todd Stottlemyre as the only hurlers to win their first eight decisions vs. the Orioles since the club moved to Baltimore in 1954. Stottlemyre did it between 1988 and 1993.

In 62 career innings vs. the Orioles, Lester has allowed just 15ER on 57 hits with 21 walks and 46 strikeouts. The Sox are 9-1 in his ten career starts vs. the Orioles.

Boston starting pitchers have worked to an ERA of 0.69 (2ER, 26IP) over the last four games with 17 strikeouts and just one walk.

The Orioles have now lost five of the last seven games.

The Birds fall to 2-2 on this homestand and have now lost three of their last nine home games. They are 23-19 at home on the year and 9-6 at home vs. an AL East opponents.

Boston continues to beat the Orioles with regularity. The Sox have now won eight in a row vs. Baltimore and are 12-1 vs. the Orioles since July 12, 2008.

Boston is 5-0 this year vs. the Birds and 49-15 vs. Baltimore since September 3, 2005. The Sox are 22-9 in the past 31 games at Camden Yards.

Ty Wigginton went 2 for 4 tonight, the only Oriole with two hits. He now has a nine-game batting streak and is hitting .471 (16 for 34) during the streak with two homers and 5 RBI.

Nick Markakis had one hit and is now 9 for 20 over his last five games. Brian Roberts went hitless tonight and is 0 for 14 over his last four games. Matt Wieters had one hit and is 2 for 16 at bat.

Tonight's attendance of 36,548 brings the season total for 42 dates to 999,589.

Jonathon Papelbon tied the Boston franchise record for saves with his 132nd, tying Bob Stanley. He has 20 saves in 20 career chances vs. the Orioles with a career ERA of 0.39 vs. Baltimore.

Losing pitcher Jason Berken is now 1-5, 6.44. He gave up four runs over five innings, throwing 99 pitches. Over his last five starts, Berken has an 8.88 ERA.
