Road Trip Idea: Baltimore
| | Comments (0)

Battle-of-the-Birds_4.jpgBaltimore is the easiest road trip on the Nats' schedule. For starters, Oriole Park at Camden Yards is still one of the best in baseball, and if you haven't visited yet, this weekend is your perfect opportunity to do so. Built in 1992, the stadium is a classic combination of an old-style ballpark with tons of modern amenities.

Skip the traffic by heading out of work early today and watch the Oriole Bird compete with Screech at ESPN Zone in Baltimore. The two birds will compete in a series of activities in preparation for the Battle of the Beltways. The event starts at 4 p.m.

ESPN Zone is located in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor, so give yourself plenty of time to explore the area or try the waterfront restaurants today, or sometime this weekend.

Also, plan to make a stop at the Sports Legends Museum and Babe Ruth Birthplace.

If you have time, take a tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The tour times on Saturday are 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tour tickets can be purchased either online, or at the main box office windows, located at the north end of the ballpark's Warehouse.

After all of that, take in Nationals batting practice. Fans are able to enter Oriole Park via the Eutaw Street gates (A and H) two hours prior to game time to watch batting practice from Eutaw Street and the Flag Court.

While you're there, enjoy the great promotions planned by the Orioles for this series including, fireworks after the game today, and a special screening of Field of Dreams following Saturday's game. Kids can run the bases after the last out on Sunday.

If you just can't make it to Baltimore, enjoy MASN's unique mixed booth broadcast starting tonight at 7 p.m.

Bob Carpenter and Jim Hunter will split play-by-play duties, while two-time All-Star Rob Dibble and Hall of Famer Jim Palmer, will provide insight and analysis in MASN's special three-man television booth. Debbi Taylor will join Amber Theoharis on the sidelines.

Nats Xtra will air from the studio at 6:30 p.m. on MASN 2. All of the games will be available on MASN, MASN 2 and MASN HD.
