Scratch that, no Sizzle
So I DVRed last night's NFL Total Access, and woke up this morning ready to hear what Terrell Suggs had to say about his contract talks with the Ravens.
Baltimore's three-time Pro Bowl LB/DE was slated to appear as an in-studio guest analyst, and one of the first questions posed would almost certainly be about where things stand between him and the Ravens' front-office.
I had my bowl of cereal all ready, kicked my feet up, and took out my notepad and pen.
Well, all that was for naught. Suggs didn't appear at all on the one-hour program.
Not sure if Sizzle was a no-show, if they're planning on having him come in another day sometime next week (on Monday's show, Ray Rice will be giving a behind-the-scenes tour of the Ravens' facilities), or if it was just a false internet report that led me in the wrong direction.
But regardless, we'll have to continue waiting on word from Suggs. Sorry, folks.
In other news, that Ray Rice piece should be pretty funny. I was there at practice the day the NFL Network came to Owings Mills, and Ray was quite the tour guide, taking the cameras into the weight room, the cafeteria and the locker room.
Ray didn't get a ton of face-time last season because he was still flying fairly under the radar, but the guy can really ham it up. I'm looking forward to seeing that piece.
That is, if they actually decide to air this one.

Danny boy,
In totally unrelated news from any of the above, the Bengals just released wide receiver Mario Urrutia, a 7th rounder out of Louisville from last season. He is a whopping 6'6" 232lb. specimen. I know the Ravens have over a month off, but do they still hold tryouts for players leading up to training camp? In my mind, they HAVE to bring this guy in for a look-see.

Josh,
Boy, you're on top of things. The Ravens will do whatever they have to do to make sure they have the best 80 guys in camp come late July. Now that the limit is set at 80, teams really value those spots, but if Ozzie sees something in Urrutia, he might give him a look.

Dan,
In relation to the above comment (please let me know if I'm missing something), how come we're not, or at least don't seem to be making any moves to get these big receivers that are out there? Braylon Edwards is the one that surprises me. I don't know what his salary is, but I don't know if we've even tried to make a move to get him. I understand Boldin being too costly, even maybe Plaxico. But I would almost be willing to give up a little bit to get a Braylon Edwards. Maybe he was rumored to be traded, I can't remember at the moment.
Sorry to keep on this receiver kick. I just think that we would be UNSTOPPABLE this year if all we had to do was to get a good enough receiver. I'm still holding out hope! :)

Robert,
Of all the big wideouts that are out there, Edwards was the least likely to ever end up in the Purple and Black just because the Browns would never trade him within the division. Like Boldin, Plax and Marshall, he has the perfect body type and would be a huge addition to the Baltimore offense, but that's exactly why Cleveland won't ship him here. Why make a division rival better? After an incredibly rough year, Edwards will feel like he's got something to prove, and the Browns don't want him putting up big numbers against them twice a year and then possibly bumping them from a playoff spot.
