An easy solution
As Rich Hill took a seat on the bench beside pitching coach Rick Kranitz after being removed from tonight's game in the third inning, he reached for his left shoulder as if trying to ease some discomfort.
Hill told reporters later that he's been dealing with tendinitis all season.
So why is he still pitching?
The Orioles could place Hill on the disabled list, which would be a convenient way to clear a roster spot for Chris Tillman. They wouldn't have to expose him to waivers, if that's an important factor.
Don't be shocked if that's the solution. I haven't heard anything, but it makes perfect sense.

Roch,
I agree in wondering why he's still pitching. Does this imply that the coaches already knew? If so, what the heck? If not, then Rich Hill is perhaps not too bright. Might explain the decrease in performance in his last several appearances. In any case, I agree that if he can go on the DL that sure is easy, but it really only delays the issue that he needs to go somewhere else where he can work on his delivery and see if he can repeat it. I don't think a rehab assignment is long enough.
BTW, this loss is probably the most disappointing of the second half to me. We should expect to win these types of games even now.
It also sounds like a pretty prime excuse. If he's had tendinitis all season there's no way he'd be pitching right now, let alone being run out there every fifth day. He couldn't locate his fastball at all tonight, but he had few issues with his breaking ball. With the amount of rotation needed to produce that power curve I definitely don't buy the "tendinitis" excuse. If he couldn't locate anything, fine, but it was the fastball, the pitch with the least amount of extra arm work, that he couldn't place tonight, not the tough stuff.
Its an excuse, its what people that grew up being red sox fans do.
What teams do you really think would pick a guy off waivers who has an ERA near 8
I think he ranks at the top of the worst pitchers in Baltimore's history and its sad that we have had two of them this season which isn't good Eaton.
See you at the game tomorrow, I predict Riemold hitting a home-run on his T-shirt day.
He said he had shoulder issues all season. Why was he pitching? That is twice now a pitcher hasnt been 100% and went ahead and pitched. Guthrie was ill a couple of weeks ago. He gave up runs and the O's couldnt recover. Now Hill. Look at all the bad games he has had this season. But. this just sounds like a convenience.......to keep him.
Hill should go on the DL with a swollen ERA, among other things. It's too coincidental that his "season-long injury" should come to light right before he'd be waived/sent down/DFAd. I've been a Hill supporter, and I think 4 months with Rick Griffin at Norfolk could be a big benefit to him. That would be the month of August 2009 and the months of April-June 2010.
Roch,
IMO, I am one of the most positive O's fans out there but the time has come for Rich to go.....tendy or not, putting him on the DL does not make perfect sense. It is time to cut bait with him, period. I have wished him all the best, was hoping he had a good start tonight but he continues to disappoint start after start. My son and I were watching the game (once again and as usual) and he just dead-panned at me and said "why is he even on the team dad he stinks". This coming from a 10 year old pitcher and you know what, he's right.
And getting back to the steak thing for a minute, my fav, cajun rib eye. I have a dry-rub that will knock your socks off and might I say it Rochs!!
My "mood" got worse with each inning tonight. God... Bruce Chen... I thought we'd score at least 4 runs! This is embarassing.
I watch nearly every inning of every single game and I haven't seen a pathetic stretch like this in a very long time. This is abysmal. It'll be nice to start fresh in '10 after adding some more pieces in the off season.
Gary Thorne is just as embarassing. Last week he had Teixeira making a catch in center field.
All I can say to this revelation is....Good God! Was he lying before or is he lying now?
It seems this might be a phantom DL move. Still if Hill likes this team enough to want to go on the DL then fine. DL the guy.
You really think he is injured? I doubt it.
If a guy thinks he's too much of a man to admit he is injured, how can one rely on him? And on the other end, if he's lying, he still doesn't really get a vote of confidence. This guy has shown what he can do in glimpses. We don't want another Daniel Cabrera. That doesn't help the rebuilding process. Either DL the guy or cut bait. At this point I'd lean towards the ladder. Your thoughts?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Put him on the DL. Transfer him to the 60-day DL when you need to make room on the 40-man roster for call-ups, and hope his mechically issues can be straightened out over the winter. Maybe he can be salvaged and help in some capacity - starter, long reliever, lefty specialist, if he can exhibit the necessary control. Not like it's costing you much to find out. - Roch
I really don't like how Trembley is setting this week up. As much as i like seeing Tillman get the call, it makes ZERO sense to have Hill, Berken and Tillman go back to back. Hill went less than 3 innings and the O's used Baez which means he's unavailable tomorrow, extended Bass which means he's out for the next 2 games, gave Albers more than an inning and now they are going to throw Berken out there? At best, he goes 7. at worst, he goes 2-3 innings again and struggles mightily in the first again. We know from the past that the O's never extend kids making their major league debuts so we can count on, at most, 6 innings from Tillman and depending on pitch count, more likely 5 innings.
Thus the O's will probably have 3 straight short outings with only Hendrickson, Sherrill and JJ probably available for one or both. We can rule out Bass and Baez probably. I hate to say this, but this week could doom the O's for the remainder of the season. Not a lot of rest here on out, hot days, and an already overworked pen. This could trigger another annual collapse.
I think it would've made much more sense after the all star break to try and mix up the rotation enough to ensure that Berken and Guthrie DON'T pitch back to back and I believe the decision to drop someone from the rotation would've made sense THEN.
If tomorrow is Tillman's normal day to pitch, why not call him up and give him the start and let Berken act as a long man and then take Hill's spot?
The break is not just an opportunity to get some guys rest. It should've allowed Trembley to evaluate this team and line it up to be most successful. Berken is what, 1-8? Would the extra 2 starts really have made any difference for Tillman? 13 starts for Hill with a 7+ ERA should be enough for the purpose of evaluation. Same with Berken. Trembley should've used the second half as...well a second start. Organize the rotation accordingly to maximize the chances for success in the second half.
Should've been:
Burgesen
Guthrie
Hernandez
Tillman
Hill/Berken.
He waited too long and i think this will lead to some second half injuries and meltdowns in the bullpen and a could lead to another horrible 2+ months.
Yeeeahhhh riiigghhttt.....BS
CUT HIM!
Excuse me if I'm "a bit" skeptical, not about your (Roch's) solution (the DL), but about Hill's ills. How convenient for him. Does this mean they can't dump him because he's suddenly "hurt" (I mean physically).
Roch- This loss just locked up losing 3 out of 4 to the worst offense in baseball. This is pathetic. I know they are going to replace Trembley after the year, but I really wish they would do it now, and maybe we would get a bump in effort from the vets.
There are so many Luke Scott's out there and it is so frustrating. They try to pull everything, and that is why they will NEVER hit over 260 or so. Kevin Millar's, Mike Cameron's, etc. All the same type. The only difference between them and the Dunn's and Howard's, is the Dunn's and Howard's have better coordination and make contact more often, hence, more HR's.
It is a shame. But it shows how far we are away from being competitive.
We have a LF,RF,CF, C, and 2B. Thats it, just over half of an offense.
They better attack this problem in the offseason, or next year we really will be talking about firing Macphail, and I truly feel he turned around at least the farm system here.
Survival of the fittest.
Roch, I think your scenario for Hill sounds about right. If the Orioles honestly believe his poor performances this season derive somehow from past injuries and he's still fixable, they'll probably want to hang on to him.
Which leads to this question: If they do shut him down, do you think it would be until the rosters expand in September or for the season?
I heard you with Tom Davis tonight about Bruce Chen. His escapability tonight was Houdini-like, no question. I can't help but think that by being a soft tosser he benefited from the timing of being able to start against the O's right after they faced three power arms in Boston.
Also in the course of the postgame with Tom the topic of the O's needing a big bopper in the middle of the lineup came up. Listening here in Cincy on MLB.com I unfortunately missed that discussion because the show was cut off right at that point. Did any names come up as possible acquisitions. Are there even any top sluggers available after the season?
Lastly, your earlier suggestion about the team giving Matusz the Bergy treatment next spring makes a good deal of sense. I don't know they can keep him down much longer as the kid'smaking a hard charge towards the majors. Next year is getting more and more interesting. Now if they can only have a significant offseason signing, though it's still going to be a hard sell getting any topflight player to want to come to Baltimore.
First of all, tonight's loss was more frustrating than any on the road trip, and for obvious reasons. How many hits were given up to a really bad Royals' lineup? Billy Butler (who?) goes 5-for-5? Bruce Chen (BRUCE CHEN???) blowing 88 MPH fastballs by Oriole hitters? I mean, really? Really?
Anyway, yeah Hill probably goes on the DL. But I don't think anyone is foolish enough to think Hill will pitch better once he is healthy. But this is still strange because one would assume the team knew about it, and if they did, why the hell is he being thrown out there every fifth day? Makes no sense, especially given how poorly he's been pitching. I can't imagine Hill would keep this secret, or would he? I don't know.
I fully expect tomorrow to read "Hill goes on 15-day DL..."
Isn't that convenient. Roch, question, if they DL him until after August 1st, than try to put him through waivers and someone claims him, they can pull him back correct?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe that's correct. Need to check on that. - Roch
Tendinitis makes sense to me. Its just a little more than a month until rosters expand, so Hill can rest himself for a few weeks, make some rehab starts, and hide on the roster until next spring. That would give him another offseason and spring training to try and figure things out. I'm not really a fan of the guy, but I don't have a problem with the O's trying to keep as many pitchers around as possible. If he can't cut it at the beginning of next season, then cut him before April.
Caddyshack, Rodney: "My arm! My arm!"
Something is not right here.
I agree that the unanswered question is whether he ever told anybody.
When I read Rich Hill's comments about his health this season... I can help but think cowardice thoughts. If he was unhealthy he should have said something. I hate saying it, but it just seems obvious that its a weak excuse for terrible execution and no control. Im sorry Rich Hill didnt work out.
Its a sign of new times in Baltimore that we dont have to keep running talent like him out there every 5th day for lack of depth.
Wow. 2.1 innings.
Another stellar outing from Hill.
Andrew: IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!
Time to cut our losses.
But Andrew is in charge, so Hill will get another start along as the profit/loss margin stays healthy.
BMS: Cease your constant whining about our criticism of Andrew. I've dated French women who moaned less than you.
Hill's oddball delivery is always going to cause him physical problems even moreso as he gets older. Putting him on the DL is a great idea to clear space for Tillman and we get to keep Berken also.I'm probably the only person left that has faith in Berken because I believe his biggest problem is pitch selection. He's got to keep the ball out of the middle of the plate.
What do the Orioles have to protect him from? Who would want him? Just release Hill. He is not part of the solution for current or future team. Who are we realy protecting here by holding on to him - management? Hill's window of opportunity is gown. This situation is like holding on to a bad marriage. Let go.
Hey Roch, I am an avid Oriole fan, but you look at the opportunity provided by facing Bruce Chen and wonder what went wrong. If you cannot beat him, well...... He is a nice guy, educated, all the good stuff, but he has bounced around, because he is one step short of being a go to guy in the pitching lineup. Then, Hill is hurt! Where did this come from? If you are taking therapy for a shoulder injury, other people should know, training staff, doctors, manager. You have a responsibility to the club and the fans. Something is wrong with this picture.
Very suspicious. (IF) this is true, a) he should be fined b) the medical staff should be fined c) Kranitz should be fined d) Trembley should be fined e) MacPhail should be fined for perpetuating a fraud against the Oriole fans and baseball itself.
A lot of empty seats at the game last night. I guess the prospect of seeing Rich Hill IMPLODE against one of the worst teams in baseball is not very enticing. Well done Andrew. You really have alienated the majority of fans in this town.
Good thing the Red Sox are coming to town for the weekend. That will increase Ole Pete and Andrew's bottom line!
No to the DL. No to the DL. We need to stop with this "potential" crap and just cut bait with bad pitchers (D'Cab offered more than Hill being a ground ball machine). Flyball pitcher in AL East, deliberate delivery results in stolen bases in the AL East, non-stellar command equals lots of walks in the AL East. Too many ways this guy can lose (D'Cab Red Flag!). Nothing he brings screams AL East success (Rays, Yankees, Red Sox are all built on power + speed + patience). If he passes through waivers and wants to chill in Norfolk, fine... but he needs to be off the 40-man ASAP not foo-fooing around on some 15-day DL + rehab where we feel some obligation to restart the Hill-experiment 30 days from now.
Now I get it! The brain trust was sitting around thinking what to do last week and decided to have Hill start Monday, throw his typical 3-inning masterpiece, then come off the mound rubbing his shoulder. Brilliant! I wish I'd thought of it.
If Rich Hill has really been hurt that long, then I take back all the terrible things I've been thinking about his ability and reapply them to his intelligence.
BC Mike: You left out that Bond, Brock Bond, was HBP and shaken, then stirred to homer in his next AB.
Sheets, I've been loudly mulling over Huff here for weeks now and I just don't see anything good coming out of it. Nobody is going to want to trade much for him because he's so cold (although he showed some hopeful signs tonight). Who wants an aging DH/1B with an 85 OPS+? But keeping him leaves you in a catch-22 at the end of the season: To get the draft picks you have to offer arbitration, but if you offer arbitration you don't get the draft picks (because he'll accept). That means you let him go for nothing or you're willing to settle for a wildly substandard level of production at a crucial offensive position for another year. I agree we should trade him if we can get anything worth keeping, but otherwise there's no choice but to keep him and hope he gets hot and helps prevent the swoon.
The way I see it, Huff and Mora with their performances this year have set back our timeline for competing by another year. For the sake of the team's future prospects, the O's really needed their expiring contracts to have good first halves. Baez has been better than anyone expected but he's just too expensive to produce much besides a salary dump. Walker's gone. And MelMo and the Huffer, the two guys who maybe could have yielded prospects had their numbers resembled their average years, instead have been disasters, killing us doubly: in the standings and in the trade market.
Oh well. Nobody said rebuilding was easy.
this kind of this annoys the hell out of me. a guy sucks, puts the team in a position to lose almost every one of his starts, hurts the bullpen and doesnt give his team confidence, and then right when he knows its over, now I have shoulder pain. I do not doubt that he does have some pain, but why on earth wouldnt that have come out earlier, and why would a team be inclined to keep a pitcher around who, based on his actions, isnt out for the good of the team? he puts the bullpen at hazard and no one has any confidence in him. sure people do this all the time because they are scared of losing a job, but this is insulting to teammates, coaches, and fans. i like rich hill and i've been pulling for him the whole time, but you dont come off the DL and extended spring training lauding how well you feel and then two months later when you havent come close to performing at a major league level and are about to get cut, have some tendonitis. to me thats insulting. im sure the o's will put him on the DL and call him back in september. put him in AAA, thats fine, but to pitch as poorly he did and for as long as he did, its clear that he wasnt in it for the good of the team because he knew he was hurting the team by going back out there every 5th day.
Roch,
Hill is full of it. Suddenly talking about tendinitis is a perfect excuse for why he has been pitching poorly all season. Go back to Spring Training when he told the media that he was battling back problems last year, and that was the reason for his control problems. Now suddenly its tendinitis.
I say expose him to waivers. If he truly has tendinitis, then nobody will claim him anyway and he can go back to the minors.
Either the FO is downright stupid, or else Hill is searching for excuses for his poor performance yet again. I think the answer is both. I clearly remember when we signed Hill, he called in to the show with Roch and was boo hoo ing and blaming his poor performance the year before on his back. When is the kid going to "cowboy up" and take responsibility for his lack of pitching talent. The curveball puts more stress on a shoulder then the two or four seam fast ball. Hill....man up and stop making excuses!!!!!1
We all worried about a decent performance by Hill would give him another 3 or 4 starts down the road. Hill knows this so he is grasping at anything which will keep him on a major league team...even if that means the DL. Then he comes back next year and forces one of our calvary members back to the minors. Because everyone knows....the golden child comes before any one of our kids!
Hill has lost ALL credibility now to go on top of everyone losing all confidence in him as a pitcher
It is as if the O's do not want to make the "decisive" part of their mantra.Decesions are a part of management. Eveidence to the contrary Hill is a nice guy but his wndow for playing mlb is over. Whenwillthe O's make final decesions and move on. The same old same pattern of decesion making delays the future.
Like father like son!
Hill is a carbon copy of his GM.
Never says a word about the important stuff and is quick to use it as an excuse to cover up his inept decisions and actions.
No wonder he is the "golden child"
I will become a troll if this kind of thing keeps happening. So Tillman starts Wednesday and then has to start again on 3 days rest because we insisted on giving "over the" Hill another start? This is after giving Tillman 5 days rest twice to push his start back to Wednesday when it should have been Monday all along. Is there any logic left in this organization? I really can't take much more.
Hey Roch,
Wow do the O's really know how to play uninspired baseball. NO clutch hitting or pitching at all and it seems that they all slump at the same time. IMO..if we have any of the coaches and Dave back next year we're just going to repeat all that seems to have happen over the last 11 yrs. We need to get a professional atmosphere in the O's clubhouse, these "professionals" need to MAN UP. Losing these games that we should win are especially painful and again no plate discipline. How nice is it that after another of Hill's poor pitching performances that he says he's hurt. I can't believe that our coaches didn't already know something like that. WHAT A POORLY RUN ORGANIZATION.
Also it's great that all the "Valued" trade chips we have are doing so poorly now that knowone wants any part of any of them (except maybe George S.).
An "Easy Solution"
If they keep Hill in anyway...FIRE ANDREW
Roch- We are now going to lose 3 of 4 to the worst offense in baseball, after going 2-7 to start the half. All because they just had to start Hill and Berken 1 more time each.
Why? Also, this is why I screamed so hard to trade Scott after that Tiger series.
Guys like him will never hit consistently, ever. Pull hitters just try to crush the ball and not make contact. He is a 260 hitter with 25 or so HR power. They probably could have gotten a decent prospect for him from a contender.
There are just way to many bumbs on this team. Chen is terrible. He hasn't won a game. And he looks like Nolan Ryan against us. Crowley has GOT to go, and everyone has been yelling that for years. These hitters have no gameplan sometimes. I for one am up for a total overhaul. I would keep Kranitz because he has done good with the 2 young starters. Guthrie is terrible again, but that is the O's luck, they will never find that diamond in the rough for more than a season or 2. Thats just what Angelosss has done to this organization. Bad luck and Karma.
Any idea who they are targeting for 1st, 3rd, and SS next year? Assuming Snyder just doesn't start tearing up AAA.
They do not have a long term solution at SS, and I am SCARED TO DEATH, that this exact offense will be here next year. I pray that Macphail sees that they might not be that far away, if we had some legit bullpen arms aside from the Ray's and Baez's.
Tell me Macphail is going to fix everything for next year. Please? They should have plenty of money anyways. If they have said they can carry 120 million in payroll, and yet they haven't been anywhere near that for years, are the saving that money for the future? If they don't spend this year, then we know that those who say they are a profit first team, are all correct, and the O's might as well move out of the city.
Nothing much in the way of help coming from the trading deadline. All of our trade "bait", short of Sherrill, has underwhelemed the potential suitors. But the O's could go after Josh Fields of the Sox to solve your, and the O's, 3rd base desire. In the dog house and buried there. He would be a cheap "solution" for next year. Hill and Pie didn't work out but maybe Fields would.
As opposed to shopping their own veteran players for prospects, do you know if they are trying to go after anyone, like Fields, for the future, maybe using a young pitcher as bait?
BTW, guess we don't have to worry about whether revocable waivers applies to Hill in August anymore. Stash him on the DL and see if he can get it right in Sarasota in March. If not, TTFN.
Tendinitis all season? Oh, please! Let me guess it is in his elbow. Didn't he start the season on the DL because of his elbow and began a rehab assignment after he was healthy? It just doesn't add up with this guy. I'd love to see the guy put it together. But he needs a minor league assignment to correct his windup. That may help him locate his fastball better. He seems like a great guy. Hopefully he can put it together at some point but right now, he just doesn't get it done. Give the man credit for that curveball. It is an A+ curve that very few other major league players have. But throwing it as much as he does would cause anyone's arm to hurt. Until he has 2 other pitches he can throw for strikes, he does not belong in a major league rotation.
This has nothing to do with Hill, but when can we expect Samuel to get canned? I'm tired of seeing guys get thrown out at the plate by ten feet. Freel was throwing the ball before Nolan even touched third.
Done and done. DL'd and let's move on.
I really dislike Hill for this. I know that he's a gamer and all; but it seems like if you look at his struggles last year and this year that he is one of those guys (re: Adam Loewen) that tries to struggle through pain, without any positive results. These guys make the entire team suffer because they think that they are bigger than the pain and believe they can go out and get it done anyway. I think its unacceptable. Own up to the pain.... constantly being on the DL isn't good for your career, but its no worse than lugging around an 8.00 ERA.
Roch- Why has Joseph not gotten a promotion yet? I say switch him over to first base A.S.A.P.
The kid can flat out hit a ton. Also, why do I get the feeling that Matusz could join this team tomorrow and nothing would change? I can't wait til next year, I hope. As long as the CI's are different.
Just DFA him,the Cub's hear the same thing and now the O's are hearing "am hurt" .Well if you are hurt you say it 3 or 4 week ago not right before you get DFA!
This team has absolutely no heart whatsoever. Judging by his post-game comments Adam Jones doesn't mind losing all that much and has bought into the "losing is no big deal" mentality of Roberts and Mora.
Also concerning Trembley's post game interview...c'mon Dave. Is that all you have to say? We didn't get pitches when we needed them??? Your team just lost 5-3 to the Royals and Bruce Chen was the starter!!!! You justified Juan Samuel unwisely sending Reimold home in the early innings.
It's time. Trembley really needs to go. This team is not motivated to win. He is terrible with the lineups, he handles his pitchers very poorly, and he constantly makes excuses for poor play. Hopefully they send him packing soon. It would also be a good idea to send Juan Samuel out the door with him. I've seen 10 too many O's cut down at home plate or 3rd base in the early innings.
Well if he's hurt DFA and that might get him to Norfolk if the O's want him.
Jack Kent Cooke would be proud. The good news is that it appears a sif Mr. Hill wants to be an Oriole bad enough that he'll make this up - it won't be confederate money much longer! When can we start dreaming about Morneau?
I have to agree with the Gary Thorne mishaps. He kept saying Albers was pitching and it was clearly Bass that was still in there. They have their names on their uniforms. It was almost as bad as Joe Angel on 105.7 last night kept saying Chen got the win and he hasnt won in 5 years. Even the O's commentators are a mess. I knew the O's had tied it and he wouldnt get the win. Must be catching. Going back to Thorne---- he really does goof a lot. More so this year than last.

Brummie: Quit your whining about our criticism of you. It's monotonous. We're all tired of your "repent, the end is nigh" crap, and if you want to people to stop whining, then give them a reason to (i.e., STFU and change your tone and content).
brummie
i doubt that you have ever heard too many women moan in person.
make sure jack doesn't know about the french women you have dated. he will be jealous.
the bottom line is someone will have to eat innings around here. tillman is approaching his total for last year. to extend him significantly beyond that point is not prudent. i suspect that he will have to be closely scrutinized. a six man rotation is not out of the question because of all the young pitching. for a reference point, please refer to the 1980 oakland a's pitching staff.
i think what you fail to appreciate is that guys like hendrickson, eaton, hill etc. were never long term solutions at any point. they are just filling in untill the young prospects get to the point where they are ready to go. the orioles ARE NOT ready to win right now, their are too many holes. to just throw these kids into the rotation at the beginning of the year essentially would have been malpractice on the part of the front office. i hate to tell you, there will probably be more innings eaters on the roster next year untill arrieta and matusz are ready.
to correct the fundamental flaws that existed in the orioles farm system is not going to happen overnight. the change will be incremental. we also have several inherent factors, unique to playing in the american league east, that most other teams have to deal with. for anyone to anticipate that this will not take time is just not being realistic.
i would say the team in the al east that we will have to mirror is the rays. we do not have the financial means to compete with the red sox or the yankees. they won last year, but how long did these young players play in the majors, or were developing in the minors. when did crawford, kazmir, shields, and upton come up. it wasn't last year, when they went to the world series, i can assure you that.
as painful as it is, it will still make more time. i do not see the orioles having a realistic shot to compete before 2012. after that, hopefully the organization will be structured to compete every year.
This tendinitis thing sounds like absolute garbage. I really hope we're not going to keep this guy. That would smack of the Orioles of old holding on to players like this because of potential when it's clear to everyone else in the world the guy just flat out can't get it done. I'm ready to write Rich Hills past successes off as a fluke and dump him. Plenty of people have had more successful periods then he had with the Cubs and proved later on not to be able to live up to those standards.
I hope andy and co. do the right thing here and cut bait. This guy is an automatic loss even against Bruce Chen.
Why not put him on the DL? What's the obsession with DFA?-to punish him for messing with our dreams of 5 more wins? Give him a shot to fix his arm and mechanics. What is the harm?
Geez, Rich Hill did the best he could and now he's going away one way or another. Give him the opportunity to work it out.

Fri: Guthrie vs Bos

Mon: Tillman at Det
That's four days between starts, Anthony. Open your eyes. Tillman's start was pushed back to Wednesday so his second start could be against Detroit instead of Boston. You're so focused on agreeing with the negatroids about the organization's lack of focus that you won't let the truth interfere with your anger. The truth will set you free.
