Baseball 101 for Women (updated)
Unfortunately, Baseball 101 was cancelled for this season, due to a lack of registrants.
Ever wondered what it's like to throw a pitch from the bullpen? Or -- to take swings in the same batting cages as Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman? Well, ladies -- now's your chance.
For the third straight year, the Washington Nationals are hosting a special baseball clinic for their female fans. This year's event will take place a week from today, on Friday, July 17th.
This year's version of Baseball 101 will be divided into two parts: a morning clinic and a pre-game dinner and Q&A before the Nationals vs. Cubs game.
The morning portion will begin with a tour of Nationals Park, which includes stops inside the Nationals clubhouse, the press conference room and the Shirley Povich Media Center.
Following the tour, participants will be divided into groups to learn the basics of base-running, pitching, infield and outfield fielding and hitting with the Nationals coaching staff right on the field and in the cages at Nationals Park. The first portion wraps up at 12:30 p.m.
Return back to the field at 4:30 p.m. for dinner on the Nationals Park Rooftop Party Deck. Guests will hear from Nationals Vice President of Communications & Community Relations Chartese Burnett, MASN Broadcasters Bob Carpenter and Debbi Taylor, and Nationals Massage Therapist Tatiana Tchamouroff. After the talk, the ladies will watch the Nats take on the Chicago Cubs together from left field.

I am bitterly disappointed that Baseball 101 has been cncelled. I learned of it only this Tuesday and was looking forward very much to the experience.

Yes, it's a shame. Hopefully next year it's scheduled on a weekend so people can attend. In the past, these have been great events. -Kristen
