Ross Detwiler was lifted after giving up three consecutive singles and throwing a wild pitch in the fourth inning.
With one out, Martin Prado, Chipper Jones and Brian McCann singled sharply off Detwiler, forcing manager Manny Acta to pull him from the game.
Tyler Clippard came in and gave up an RBI double, which was charged to Detwiler.
Detwiler's line for the night: 3 1/3 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, K, WP. 86 pitches, 53 strikes.
The 3 1/3 is the fewest of his big league career and the 10 hits matches the most he's allowed. It's happened twice, the most recent time was on June 4 against the Giants.
Washington trails 5-4 entering the bottom of the fourth.
