Early struggles
To say that left-hander Ross Detwiler is struggling thru the first three innings tonight would be an understatement.
Detwiler has already allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks, one intentionally, while throwing 70 pitches, 41 for strikes.
Three of the hits are doubles and each time the Nationals have gotten a lead, Detwiler has given it right back.
He's leaving pitches over the heart of the plate and the Braves are making him pay. Detwiler is lucky that Atlanta has scored only three runs. They have left the bases loaded twice.
On a positive note, Detwiler picked up his first career RBI with a single to second base in the second inning.
Adam Dunn's 21st homer, and 299th of his career, leading off the bottom of the third put the nationals back on top 4-3.
