Inside the numbers

I know we're not at the official half-way point of the season, but three months are in the history books and I thought I'd crunch some numbers at how the season has transpired from month-to-month-to-month.

I'll begin with the offense, which got off to an amazing start, averaging more than four runs a game, but as the weather warmed up, they cooled down.

April: 5-16, .266 AVG, 4.4 R/GM, 23 HR, 11 SB, .356 OBP, .416 SLG, .772 OPS
May: 8-20, .265 AVG, 5.0 R/GM, 34 HR, 6 SB, .347 OBP, .433 SLG, .780 OPS
June: 9-17, .244 AVG, 3.4 R/GM, 15 HR, 9 SB, .324 OBP, .362 SLG, .686 OPS

The Nationals scored more than four runs only six times in the entire month of June, compared to 17 times in May.

In fact, Washington had a 10-game stretch in May where they scored more than five in every game, but won only once.

Now to the pitching. Remember how bad the pitching, starters and relievers, was early on? It didn't get better for the bullpen, but the rotation has been outstanding.

Starters
April: 5-8, 4.99 ERA, .293 BAA, 49 BB, 62 K, 1.618 WHIP, 0 CG
May: 5-11, 6.04 ERA, .285 BAA, 72 BB, 107 K, 1.595 WHIP, 1 CG
June: 5-8, 3.86 ERA, .249 BAA, 52 BB, 84 K, 1.261 WHIP, 2 CG

Relievers
April: 0-8, 5.40 ERA, 3 SAVES, .254 BAA, 47 BB, 59 K, 1.595 WHIP
May: 3-9, 6.11 ERA, 5 SAVES, .298 BAA, 53 BB, 66 K, 1.770 WHIP
June: 4-9, 5.27 ERA, 4 SAVES, .291 BAA, 36 BB, 48 K, 1,647 WHIP

Of the 10 different pitchers that blew a save in the first three months, only Joe Beimel, Jesus Colome, Julian Tavarez and Ron Villone are still on the roster.

Mike MacDougal and Tyler Clippard are the only members of the 'pen who haven't blown a save, yet. New comer Sean Burnett blew a save in his first appearance with the Nationals on Wednesday.

As a team, Washington has blown 19 of 31 save opportunities this season.

Do you see the Nationals trading Adam Dunn to the Seatle Mariners or Minnesota Twins?

and do you think we can get alot in return from these two teams if we trade with them they are close in the race for the playoffs

Thanks

If they do trade him, and it could be to any team in the playoff hunt, they better get something in return. I haven't heard either of those teams mentioned, but that doesn't mean they haven't made an offer. Pete

Name a team that you think Adam Dunn might get traded to and tell you what major league ready prospects we can get?

Thanks
