Izzy coming back soon?
| | Comments (12)

Orioles shortstop Cesar Izturis will embark on an injury rehab assignment next week, and it's now looking more likely that he could return to the active roster before the break.

That's quite a reversal from what we were told recently.

Izturis apparently will report to Double-A Bowie for games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

After that? Stay tuned.

We can begin debating again how the Orioles will make room for him.

Can Izturis and Oscar Salazar co-exist on the same roster?

... of course they may co-exist. It's starting to look like Jason Berken, due to pitch again next Thursday - an off day - would be optioned to Norfolk when Izzy is activated. Then the O's don't need a 5th starter until the 5th day after the All Star game.

Who cares. Andino has far more upside than Izzy.

Really? This Front Office pulls more U-turns than somone playing Grand Theft Auto. Don't believe anything they say.

next year rather than waffle house try brothers delly on powerline between cypress creek and atlantic. with blake davis getting healthy i could see the o's trading izzy and maybe a pitcher or two. wiggy could play backup short and if andino goes down bring up davis.

Keep telling yourselves Huff is coming back. Let the Kool Aid flow a'plenty!

When he's in another uniform next year and we have nothing to show for it, you guys can remember that Ole Brummie predicted it here first!

I guess his departure will be part of some bigger "plan" Andrew has which you guys will eat right out of his hands.

Come on Roch, barring injury or a trade you know dayum well that Pié, Andino and Zaun ain't going no where and they're not going with a 11 man pitching staff. You don't need an advanced degree in quantum mechanics to figure that one out. After they dump Salazar (again) they'll trot out that tired old phrase of "He just got caught up in a numbers game". So let's everyone from the fans to the front office to the media save the BS for another day.

Berken works about as slow as anybody i've ever saw

HAHA, Dummie_Oriole, you just crack me up. Yeah, it's the front office's misinforming the fans, right? It couldn't be that Izturis is simply feeling better more quickly than anyone anticipated, right? Oh, no, it's the big, bad Orioles front office playing mind tricks on the fans. It's all a conspiracy, right? HAHA...you're so pathetic.

Roch,

We both know that Salazar is a goner. But why not DFA Hendrickson? I know that would leave no lefties in the bullpen, but it's not like Trembley uses Hendrickson in spot situations anyway.

If you keep Salazar then who do you DFA?

That was really something watching Berken do the 4th inning. He kept the ball low, low and low. He hit the target, even if it was a ball, low and away.

Then he battled out of the inning.

The ump did him no favours.

As long as there is continuous improvement from the young guns, I am satisfied.

Brummie, if we don't trade Huff and we don't extend him, we'll most likely end up with two additional first round picks next year. That may be even better than making the trade with Jordan's history of drafting. So I wouldn't say we'll get nothing in return. But I'm sure you already knew that.

Only the Orioles could send down someone batting 400 and a career 291 hitter
