Koji on Koji
| | Comments (13)

Speaking through his interpreter, Jiwon Bang, Orioles pitcher Koji Uehara said he didn't want to think about his elbow injury and how much time he'll be forced to miss.

Unfortunately for Uehara, he didn't have much choice today. The subject was bound to come up.

Asked about his immediate plans, Uehara replied, "I haven't made specific plans yet at this moment, so I don't know." He did confirm that he'll remain in Baltimore.

Uehara indicated that he felt some discomfort in his elbow before his last start, but not to the extent that he couldn't pitch.

Did you worry about the arthrogram revealing a tear?

"I wasn't expecting it, not at all," he said.

Uehara wants to stay in the rotation once he's cleared to pitch, but he isn't giving it much thought at the moment.

"One day at a time," he said.

Ya, he just struck out with runners on.

We're really getting to Beckett today. Cheers to Nick. That's what you do with runners on the corners!

wait...why didn't you say anything when mr. retread got an rbi single?

Brummie,
Does that mean Nolan is bad because he ended the inning w/ runners on the corners and is 0-2 today? Yeah thats what I thought.

With the callups of Arrieta, Matsuz, and Tillman looming for this and next season could Koji return to the bullpen

This Bergesen kid is pretty good. So I've heard.

If Luke or Huff make an out, i'll be quiet.

But if Pie makes an out, it's cuz he's a worthless prize of ANDREEEEEEEW!!

Man, if only the O's had lost yesterday, then my personal attacks against the best GM we've had in too many years to count would carry more weight. Pretty soon when the O's are competitive I'll be limited in my attacks to what glasses lenses ANDREEEEEEW chooses and whether he uses hair gel.

Roch, love the blog is there any chance that you do the sort of live chat during a game that the Boston beat writers are doing today? Running commentary during the game is such a nice service to us out of towners who can't watch the game.

Bergy pitching a heckuva game. He's got a shot at 9--only 56 pitches through 4, along with excellent run support to keep him relaxed.

This game is making me smile. I was afraid we'd still be asleep after last night.

"it seemed like after Salazar's homer last night that Mora said something to him in the digout and walked off with a scowl on his face. Anything there?"

Does Mora ever look happy? My wife and I joke that he always looks so sad.

I saw this too by Mora with Salazar after the HR & alluded to it in a post this AM.

Pie still makes mistakes that are minor league at best, sorry lovers. He just got a hit, early in the game, no one out, top of the order coming up with good vibes from last night, there was NO need to risk trying for 2B there. Late in the game maybe. The TIMING was bad. I am happy he is playing better, but these "things" happen all the time, not just sometimes. If they are at this stage of his "development" then it's doubtful he will ever have "baseball instincts".
I think we should hope he keeps playing well/better & can be dealt for something this coming month. He isn't going to start here, period & 4th OFers are easy to find. The O's might already have some too. Hopefully his market worth increases & he is dealt when Izturis is ready for instance. It's called dealing from strength....

Alan, Boston is the one with the hangover, not the O's...

Being against Boston, I don't see Trembley sending him out for the full nine unless this becomes a blowout.
