Lannan looks to end Nats 4-game skid
Staff ace John Lannan takes the hill this afternoon and looks to end the Nationals four-game losing skid.
Lannan (5-5, 3.45) has been outstanding all season, but he's been light's out in his last six starts.
The lefty has allowed 12 earned runs in his last 42 innings pitched, a 2.57 ERA. Lannan is 3-1 in that span with the team winning four of the six.
In his last start against the Braves, April 22, Lannan tossed seven scoreless innings but settled for a no-decision in Atlanta's 1-0 win at Nationals Park.
In his career vs. the Braves, Lannan has been steady, going 2-2 with a 3.30 ERA in five starts.
Atlanta, winners of five straight, sends undefeated rookie Tommy Hanson (4-0, 2.48) to the bump.
The 6'6'' right-hander hasn't allowed a run in his last three starts, a stretch of 17 1/3 innings and he hasn't allowed a run in his last 20 innings.
During that time, Hanson has given up just nine hits, struck out eight but has issued 11 walks.
If there is one area that Hanson has struggled with this season it's issuing free passes. He's walked 17 in 29 innings this season.
The Braves have won all five of his starts this season, outscoring opponents 28-10.
