Not taking advantage
The Nationals had Marlins starter Josh Johnson reeling all afternoon and couldn't take advantage of his ineffectiveness.
They got five hits and four walks off the right-hander in 3 1/3 innings, knocking him out of the game after he threw 89 pitches, only 49 for strikes.
Burke Badenhop took over with runners on first and second and got out of the inning by getting Cristian Guzman and Nick Johnson to ground out, letting Johnson off the hook.
Washington has now left eight on base thru four innings.
