Does Trembley have something against me or something? This is the second game I'll have been at this year and both time Wieters was on the pine. I understand how he wants Tillman to throw to a veteran catcher but at the same time it could be argued that he should throw to Wieters since he has a comfort level with him already from the minors.
Zaun catching Tillman...and Huff DH'ing in the #4 spot. Fire Trembley now. This is absolutely ridiculous. Wieters had 4 hits last night and has caught Tillman over 20 times in the minors. Trembley has no clue what is going on.
:shakes head:
Winnings is the only thing that matters...
Roch:
Is the team optimistic they'll be able to get this one in tonight? If not will Tillman pitch tomorrow?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The tarp isn't even on the field, so I'd say yes. And I'd assume that they'd play a DH tomorrow if rained out, so Tillman would pitch. - Roch
I always feel like I miss out on the complaining of the lineup. So.....switch Huff and Reimold.
Really? Not at least a DH for Wieters, who has been hot lately? Huff in the 4 slot? No Izturis benching for his inept sac bunt attempts? I would think that Trembley would want Wieters to catch Tillman because of their familiarity, but I can let that go. Zaun is a seasoned vet and should be able to handle Tillman quite well. To not at least DH Wieters, though, especially with Huff instead, seems stupid to me. I really don't get Dave Trembley. Seems like a nice guy, but an awful manager.
Okay. I know. Wieters plays 5 times a week. I get it. But not only did he go 4-5 last night, he has caught Tillman! It would make sense for Tillman to pitch to someone he is used to and trusts!
roch
halladay not traded to yanks. my apologies. The NY Post was playing tricks on me.
i just knew trembley would sit wieters after the kid got 4 hits last night. macphail needs to bring in a manager who understands the game a little bit better than trembley. i don't care if zaun hits for the cycle sitting wieters unless he's hurt is a bad move. could hav eplayed wiggy at 3rd huff at first and wieters at dh
At least Huff is playing DH. God! Why is he still batting 4th?
I would have put a lineup like this:
Roberts
Jones
Markakis
Reimold
Wigginton
Huff
Zaun
Mora
Izturis
any idea why wieters isnt the DH? i think its good that zaun is catching tillman's debut. huff has been borderline embarassing and certainly should be nowhere near the run producing part of the lineup. wieters went 4 for 5 last night. im not saying he should be hitting clean up, but don't you think he should still be in the lineup? when joe mauer doesnt catch, he DHs. im not saying wieters has earned what mauer has, but a guy with a lot of promise and the only guy, along with reimold, that seems to be hitting the last few games just got taken out of the lineup.
Roch,
How long before DT moves huff down in the lineup?
I am so sick of DT. I'm going to the game tonight and am excited to see Tillman's debut, but I am so pissed Wieters is sitting that I can barely see straight. You want to catch a veteran; I get that, fine. But there is no reason Wieters cannot DH. Sure if Zaun gets hurt we lose the DH, but how likely is that to happen? Not effin likely. DT is gutless and his team plays like him. He so needs to be gone.
HOW can u sit Wieters after a 4 for 5?
Goodbyd DT.
Where is Weiters? Why is DT continuing to bat Huff Daddy when Matt is starting to swing a good bat? I understand Zaun catching but no Weiters and Huff being a DH when he is struggling. I don't understand Trembley sometimes. I advise him to change the lineup so Weiters plays today. This should be today's lineup:
Roberts-2B
Mora-3B
Jones-CF
Markakis-RF
Reimold-LF
Wiggy-1B
Weiters-DH
Zaun-C
Izturis-SS
Anybody know what Eric Davis is up to? Even though I don't think he has any managerial experience, he'd be respected and the team would never get away with slacking off like they do now.
This lineup tonight is a joke. Trembley seems to be committing career suicide. It makes no sense to not have Wieters (and Andino, IMHO)in the limeup.
why sit wieters just as hes starting to heat up.
trembley at the helm is getting old we need a real manager no AA managers
Can't we all just get along...:)
Hey Roch...
Any news on the roster move to make room for Tillman?
So what player got kick off the 40 man roster to kept the peice of crap Hill.
sorry Roch...just had an older version of the blog post
Guys,
Wieters didn't exactly hammer all those hits last night. Two of them were weak flairs that just barely fell in. Let the guy rest once in awhile. Why push him so hard in a lost season? He doesn't need the wear & tear now plus he isn't that far removed from a college season which is much shorter.
It's quite telling that Wigginton is basically in for Scott with a tough righty going. That poor guy is really struggling.
Watch Tillman get 2 innings in & then it rains for an hour+, then what? Risk bringing him out there or not? I say NOT.
Trembley isnt going to move Huff anywhere. You saw that big move last night to the 3rd spot and it killed us. I think the veteran players on this team pretty much do what they want. Bobby Valentine isnt going to resign with japan team He should be available. O's wouldnt consider him because they wouldnt give him the money that he would want. He does have fire and knows how to win.
I can understand the mentality of having Tillman throw to a veteran C in his debut although I don't personally agree with it, especially since Wieters has personally caught Tillman at least 20 times in the minors. What I cannot understand is having Wieters ride the pine after getting 4 hits the night before. What's wrong with giving Huff a night off and letting Wieters DH, especially when Huff has looked absolutely awful at the plate lately?
Roch
do you expect weiters to catch tomorrow's day game ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. No way the backup catcher catches a day game after a night game. - Roch
That funny guy Trembley... he really likes tormenting you guys with his placement of Huff within the lineup... I can hear him now in his office as he creates the lineup after reading these rants...
"hmmmm , big crowd to see Tillman, Ok, Wieters is sitting for sure, ha haha hahahaha, hohohoho hehehehee, now wheeerrrrre to put Huff. Hohohoho heeeee hahahaha, teeheehee....."
I like Reimold in the 5th slot, so no complaints there. But Huff batting clean-up again? Seriously?? I love you Dave, but what are you thinking? I say sit Huff, & DH Wieters. I'm not calling for the man's job, but he seriously needs to rethink this lineup....
It might, just as well be, a right shoulder inflammation!
Ok, that explains the active roster but what did they do to get him on the 40 man?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simon to 60-day DL. - Roch
I like having Zaun in the lineup tonight. He's hit well lately, has something like the 2nd highest OBP on the entire team, and can work well with the young pitchers. That said, I'd prefer Wieters as the DH over Huff. The mild silver lining is we'll get Wieters tomorrow in a day game after a night game (yeah, if he were to DH tonight we could still have him catch tomorrow which would be even better).
Two popular arguments on here are "losing the clubhouse" and "Trembley caters to his veterans too much." People should realize that they go together. If he disses the likes of Huff and Mora, he's more likely to lose the clubhouse. These guys are the old hands that the younger players look up to. It's a fine line Trembley has to walk. The way out of it is to have veterans that are better players, so you have less need to slide your veteran out of the 4 or 5 hole in the lineup. Seriously, how often did Weaver move Murray out of the cleanup slot when he was slumping?
"A leopard never changes his spots"
Darn. I guess that means we'll never be able to get you to shut your trap and stop making idiotic comments.
I have another saying specifically for you:
"It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt"
Unbelievable that Wieters isn't in the lineup. Quit babying the guy and play him 6 days a week!
I cannot understand why Wieters is not in this line-up. He had the only clutch hit last night with a man is scoring position and is one of the hottest hitters in the line-up. I know I am not the smartest guy in the room and I know DT forgets more about baseball then I will ever probably know. But I can't help but think you play your hot players no matter what. I can understand catching Zaun, I would have liked to seen Wieters catch but not enough to call out DT on the move. But to remove Wieters bat all togeter, just not smart. I think he should at least be the DH today, sit Huff for a couple of games. Not like we would be missing him right now, just my thoughts. It is getting harder and harder to stay positive with DT at the helm.
Seriously, I can understand letting Zaun catch but let Wieters HIT! Just so freakin dumb its sad. You gotta get this kid in the lineup even if you don't want him catching.
Get used to the incompetence folks! Dave serves as Andrew's protection from the heat. He is not going anywhere!
You guys aim all your anger at him when in reality it should be directed at the man who put this lousy roster together in the first place.
Any significance to the veteran Zaun catching the rookies first start?
You must be F'ing kidding me...Huff DH'ing instead of Wieters who had four hits yesterday. DT is really starting to irritate me with his sorry a** line-ups.
Roch,
How do you sit a guy that had 4 hits the night before? It seems as though when our young cathcer gets hot... he sits. Not to mention Huff STILL in the 4-slot. I really don't see Trembley here after this year, it's not hard to see this guy doesn't have a feel for the club.
After observing Riemold since 2005, I have been impressed with the way he always seem to practice plate discipline. He gets it!! He sees the ball, keeps his hands back and swings at strikes. I am concluding that he is your best hitter for placement at the three spot. Nick and Huff can flip flop number 4 and 5, but I would keep Riemold out of that as he is a pure hitter and three is his spot. Wieters will move up to 4 or 5 next year after Huff is gone (Oh, I hope)
I like Ben's Lu. DT is too bookish to see the practicality of that LU.
I have to agree sitting Matt seems counter productive.
Catch Zaun, DH matt sit Huff in this case.
I take pause in some of Dave's decisions especially not pinch hitting for bottom of the order players.
Guess that is why I am not a MLB manager.
The radar looks favorable for the game. "I don't think the heavy stuff's gonna come for quite some time."
Time to grab some Bud Light, head home and watch the O's
Go Os
Thanks for the blog.
If Wieters DHs and has to come in at C for Zaun they'd lose the DH spot. This isn't Trembley's first rodeo folks, he knows what he's doing.
I have come to the unhappy conclusion that perhaps some of our better players are either losers, or have been here too long.
Having coached at the high school and travel team level for almost 30 years, the one thing that I insisted upon was hustle. Hustle never slumps. To watch Roberts, Huff, Mora, and Wigginton not be professional enough to run out everything makes me question why they're not benched. Wasn't Upton benched? Wasn't Rollins benched for not hitting? Those managers had the guts to follow through with their tough talk.
Joe DiMaggio dove for a ball in the last inning with the Yanks ahead by 10 runs late in the season. They were already going to the World series. When asked by a reporter why he'd risk getting injured on something so meaningless, he answered because there may be someone in the stands who has never seen him play and he didn't want to see him loafing. The anecdote probably isn't exactly accurate, but the main idea is.
If it was good enough for him, why not our veterans? Why do our young players run everything out (except Wieters)? The answer is because, I'm afraid, that we have too many players who accept losing as inevitable, rather than being pissed off and doing everything that they can do for the team to help them win.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Usually I don't nitpick on the lineup, but I feel compelled to do so today. There's absolutely no reason Wieters can't DH today. Don't baby him.
Today I would go with:
1. Roberts - 2B
2. Jones - CF
3. Markakis - RF
4. Huff - 1B (not producing like a cleanup man, but do you really want to move Reimold to the no. 4 spot and put that kind of pressure on a rookie?)
5. Reimold - LF
6. Wieters - DH (has earned a spot higher in the order)
7. Wigginton/Mora - 3B (I don't care for Wigginton, but Mora's not doing anything either. Pick your poison)
8. Zaun - C
9. Andino - SS (Izzy not being able to lay down a bunt was unacceptable)
WHY? WHY? WHY IS WIETERS SITTING.
There's a reason this guys batting average is hovering .250
Every time he gains some momentum, has a great game, Dave sits him the next day.
Plus with Tillman on the mound, Matt's caught him, hasn't he? So he would be the better choice. I just don't understand Dave at all. This needs to stop.
I'd like to see more of Wiggington and Pie with Scott, Mora and Huff struggling. The O's offense is getting so pathetic that it's making the pitching look good.
Even with Zaun catching it makes no sense to put Wieters on the bench. He could DH and put Huff where he belongs on the bench. 4-5 and he sits the next night this will be one of the topics talked about when DT is finally let go.
>> "The Orioles have placed Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list"
Cop out move. Loser organizational move. Desperation for starting pitching move. Apparently didn't learn a thing from the D'Cab experience. But, hey.. I'm sure Rich Hill will turn it around... just... like... Dontrelle Willis. *rolls eyes*
I like putting Wiggy at first tonight, because I think when you have a kid making his debut you need to have your best defensive lineup on the field. Huff is just terrible defensively. No range, can't make the tough catch on foul pops down the line and no arm. Any half-decent first-baseman is able to knock down the Roberts throw late in Monday's game instead of letting it skip into the dugout, and that cost us the winning run. And we didn't turn a 3-6-3 DP in Boston because Huff threw a 55 MPH changeup to first base, and that let a run score.
As for Wieters, with a day game tomorrow you figure he's going to sit one of the next two, so you might as well sit him against Greinke. That's part of nursing along a rookie. They sat Jones against some of the top righthanders last season if I recall. If he plays against Greinke and goes 0-for-4 with 4 K's, doesn't that take the luster off his 4-hit night?
My only lineup gripe is keeping Huff in the 4-hole. Not just because he's in a slump, but to break up the two lefties in a row. I never got Trembley's logic of hitting Markakis 2nd against lefty starters and 3rd against righties. To me that's a bigger deal in the late innings, when you are susceptible to the lefthanded specialist (and KC has two in Mahay and Bale). I'd like to see Reimold or Wiggy 4th and Huff 5th or 6th. Or even better, move Izturis to 2nd (where he was doing OK before the surgery), followed by AJ, NM, NR, AH, TW, MM, GZ.
Roch, I would like it if you or one of your comrades in the media ask DT why Wieters is not the DH tonight. Wieters DH'd on the days when he was not catching when he was in the minors. Not only did he have FOUR hits last night but he needs at bats.
So please, someone ask him flat out why Wieters is not getting more at bats, and if he gives platitudes in response, press the issue. I honestly think he is retarding Wieters progress in adapating to MLB pitching.
Why the hell do you sit Wieters the night after he had 4 hits and has only played 2 games in a row??? OH MY GOD!!!!!!!
Roch - You didnt read my post clearly. I said I wasnt sure about the timing of the Burnett/Lowell trade.
Is everyone on the same page that Trembley has lost it. Your catcher of the future gets 4 hits, is on a roll, and sits him while a rookie who excelled when Weiters was his catcher.
DT....your time has passed. You are managing out of fear instead of managing to win games. You cater to the veterans so you dont lose the clubhouse. You took notes from Perlozzo. Little do you know, it is the rookies or 2nd year players who would have saved your job, not the likes of Mora, Zaun or Huff.
WTG DT
Go back to Cubs land to get a minor league coaching job!
Fox sports is saying at least 8 teams are interested in Sherrill, with two or three teams being "actively engaged" in ongoing discussions with the Orioles. Do you hear anything, and what is your gut feeling?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything I've heard, I've written. The Angels and Dodgers are extremely interested. Orioles want a third baseman in return who could start in 2010. - Roch
Who gets removed from the 40-man roster ? Tillman isn't on there and it's full. I know, I know you said no math.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alfredo Simon to 60-day DL. - Roch
What is Trembley thinking, Huff batting 4th and Wieters sitting on the bench after getting four hits last night? I think he's just trying to show his authority or maybe hiss people off. He is succeeding 4 sure!
As I'm sure you heard the Phils just got Cliff Lee for four of their top 10 prospects. He is going to kill the NL.
Also, no specifics, but FoxSports is reporting:
Several teams pursuing Sherrill — 3:26 p.m.
As many as eight teams are pursuing Orioles closer George Sherrill, and two or three are "actively engaged" with Baltimore in discussions, according to a major-league source.
The Orioles expect that the number of teams serious about Sherrill actually might grow once the big-name starting pitchers get traded — or not.
The Dodgers have maintained interest in Sherrill, and a number of their prospects appeal to the Orioles. The Angels, too, are among the interested teams.
The Phillies are unlikely to act on Sherrill now that they are preparing to trade four prospects for Indians left-hander Cliff Lee.
Hey ... has anyone noticed that Wieters is benched and Huff is DHing and batting clean-up?
Roch, I can't believe no one is questioning why Wieters isn't playing after last nights 4 for 5.
Huff is 6 for 16, .375BA lifetime against Greinke. Perhaps that's why he's in the four hole. Zaun on the other hand is 0 for 6 and Mora is 1 for 12. I can understand having a vet like Zaun catch Tillman's first start, but Mora in the lineup? No way.
Its simple.
Huff is due to make $8,000,000.00 in 2009. We arent going to pay him that money to sit on the bench even if he is in a horrible slump. He had the best year of his career last year so thats proof that is in a slump. In other words, Huff isnt lost forever, he is fresh off his best year, and his needs the at bats to get over it. However, he should be slid down the line up.
Dave
It may not be his first rodeo but I'm pretty sure that it's his last! He's horrible!
Huff in the 4 spot? Really? Huff couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag. I'm not sure I can stomach another helpless 0-4. Huff needs to sit for 2-3 games in a row, and then he needs to hit 6th until he gets it straightened out.
Cripes, he must have some really good dirt on Trembley. Either that or he's being "showcased" .... riiiiiiiiiiiight.

It's comforting knowing that you do.
Hey Roch, Check out nydailynews.com sports for some trade info. Cliff Lee has been traded to the Phillies. Look like they gave up on the other long rumored trade.
Dave, we know that they lose the DH if Zaun gets hurt and Wieters is the DH and has to replace him. How likely is that to happen and so what? You play NL baseball from that point on in the game. It wouldn't be the first time that happened, but it's very rare. Are you telling me Joe Mauer never serves as the DH?
I agree this should be the lineup...
1. Roberts - 2B
2. Reimold - LF
3. Markakis - RF
4. Jones - CF
5. Wieters - DH
6. Wigginton 1B
7. Mora - 3B
8. Zaun - C
9. Andino - SS
I like Trembely but I'm starting to question his moves...
Dave actually has an uncanny ability to put together lineups that NO ONE likes. I mean, there aren't that many ways to arrange the guys on this roster, and yet, every lineup he produces is universally reviled. It's a talent, I say.
Well said Doug, have you seen a person who whines and complains as much as KyleProBoller? Man, he's got to be a single lonely guy because what woman would put up with all the negativity 24/7?
Trembley not putting Wieters in line up = FAIL.
Jack, I have the utmost respect for your posts, but I am afraid I must disagree with you on one earlier post.
Although Andrew is cheap and clearly a budget man, I don't think he would resort to Dulaney Valley Golf course. It is an OK course and is closer to OPACY, but I don't think he would golf there. It's a municpal golf course, meaning he'd have to golf besides "commoners."
I think he is more of a Bulle Rock guy. Their website says of the course: "The name Bulle Rock truly signifies the strength of these 235 acres of golf heaven."
Bulle Rock is an LPGA course and it's close to the bay. You can rent a Caddy for $40 as well. After 18 holes Andrew can have a nice crab cake lunch on the water with Krivsky ( another NL GM who got fired and then was magically hired by Ole Pete).
I could be wrong, but I think with his salary, he will want to golf the best course in the Baltimore area.
Well, easy for me to say cuz I can't go to the game, but I cannot see how Huff is going to get out of his slump on the bench. In addition, he hit a ball quite well to the opposite field last night. Sure sign that a breakout is imminent.
I agree with an earlier poster who said we should be seeing more of Pie. We need to find out what he can do. The earlier poster, {sorry, but my memory isn't as good as it once was}, recommended sitting Jones & Reimold each once a week to get Pie two starts a week. I agree but I would also include Huff, Izturis, Markakis, Mora, Roberts & Scott in the rotation, adding two more starts for Pie, two for Andino and two for Wiggington. Maybe give Mora & Huff two days off a week and add two more starts for Wiggington. Might as well see what Andino can do too.
I'm in D.C. and I just heard that the President is declaring a State of Emergency because Matt Wieters isn't in the lineup tonight.
BTW - Jack, try to spell Wieters name correctly next time.
I do think that Huff needs to batter anywhere but 4th, I'd say until further notice the combo of Huff/Scott/Mora need to bat Little League Style. That's where you bunch a few "Not So Good" Batters together to their outs all at once. Sure it kills an inning every few but they aren't Rally Killers either. It works wonders when you have the 7 run per inning rule.
What and awful lineup against one of the best pitchers in baseball. How much longer to we have to put up with Trembley? This guy stresses me out like a pain in the a** ex-girlfriend!
Trembley not putting Wieters in line up = FAIL.
Roch
Did Dave hint as to why he thought a better battery would be zaun and not wieters, in his pre game media?
I guess following Dave's logic since we now have 4 rookies starting Wieters is only going to catch Guthrie. I really thought Dave was the right man for the job but he is proving himself clueless.
Here is a thought, let's assume they do get a 3B for 2010 in a trade for Sherrill. I'll leave out the debate of whether this player is actually going to make the roster next year, do the O's play him at 3B the rest of the year? What of Mora? Very interesting possible dilemma.... why not do that if he is obviously the hope, the , er, um plan. Obviously Mora isn't , so why waste 2 months of him at 3B instead of the guy you just traded your closer for???? The closer that WAS locked up for 2 more years too!
Will my dream lineup ever come to fruition?
Roberts - 1B
Jones - CF
Markakis - RF
Huff - 1B
Reimold - LF
Scott - DH
Wiggington - 3B
Wieters - C
Andino - SS
If Andino was in the lineup everyday, which I kind of liked while Izturis was out, I think he might gain a little more consistency (same goes for Wiggington (sorry Melvin)). As a 25 year old that might be around for a while, Andino could add a lot to the young corps we have coming up through the ranks right now.
A poster wrote
This organization is rediculous.
I hate to say it, you are wrong.
This organization is not the problem. It is rich in history and pride. The problem is the leadership guiding this organization. It starts with the ownership and trickles down to the manager.
Again DT is losing the clubhouse and fans. But you ahve to understand one thing. He can only play the players who Andrew gives him. Andrew was never held responsible for bringing people like Eaton, Simon, Freel, Hendrickson and so on who COST us a dozen wins in Apr and May. at those dozen wins to our standings right now and we would be near .500.
The problem is Andrew, DT is merely a puppet, a yes man, a man managing out of fear to save his job. And he sees the best way to save his job is by aligning himself with the veterans. This my friend is the truth.....he took notes from Perlozzo.
Hey Roch - Any idea which managers might be axed of signable in the off season? I am just curious, I know we wont be in the market for one because Andrew hand picked DT. We all know, McFail doesnt admit mistakes.
Roch, do you honestly see Trembley coming back for another year if this team loses 90+ games again, having another second half dive? Looks like thats where we are headed. Just wondering, keep up the great work!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Trembley can afford for this team to collapse. - Roch
And Jack STILL cannot figure out how to spell "W-I-E-T-E-R-S"!!!
We should all stop and listen to everything he has to say!!!
pause....
pause....

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!
Let the record show that Brummie_Oriole just independently researched Bulle Rock golf course so he'd have more ways to make the same tired joke about MacPhail playing golf.
Do we have that on record?
Looking past the fact that he is Matt Wieters and we all want to see the future, I think Trembley really should have looked at his 6 game hitting streak, but also more importantly that he has an RBI in three straight games, which is the more important number in my mind, and put him in as the DH. The O's are not really lighting up the scoreboard these days, so give the kid a start at DH, and let Huff take a rest. Or if not huff, sit Mora and put Wigginton there instead. Of course, if Huff hits a home run tonight and drives in three, then Trembley ends up looking pretty good, right. There really is no saying what any of these guys are going to do. After watching the Red Sox -O's series, I definitely did not see Jones hitting home runs in back to back games. It would have been nice though to see Reimold, Jones, Markakis, Wieters and Tillman all on the Line Up card, a glimpse of the future. But of course, there are more games left in the season to see that, and hopefully a decade more of it as well.
All you guys who want Wieters to DH just need to take a deep breath and think for a minute.
If Zaun gets hurt in the second inning and the team loses its DH the rest of the way, Trembley gets excoriated for that move. Also, having both catchers in the lineup limits your ability to pinch-hit or pinch-run for Zaun in the late innings.
Also, I would hardly call Wieters "red hot" after last night's 4-hit game. In order, his four hits were: a 48-hopper through the infield, a broken-bat check swing dunker over second, a hard-hit single off the RF wall and a one-handed 150-foot pop up that landed just inside the LF foul line. He hit one ball hard in five at bats and you guys are making him out to be Mike Piazza right now.
Roch wasn't Trembley's original plan when Weiters came up to catch him 2/3 of the week and to sub him in at DH the other games? Do you think he is being to loyal to the veterans?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he's decided to be a little more careful with Wieters, and to tap more into Zaun's experience behind the plate with all these rookies. - Roch
Random thought, maybe Wieters is sitting because he has to sit either today or tomorrow, and why risk having him cool off against Grienke, who's been lights out this year.

Roch, You challenged readers in an earlier post to come up with a five-rookie rotation. At least one other reader and I offered the O's "Kiddie Korps" from 1960 as an answer, but I didn't see a response from you. Were we right?
Brian, So what if two of the hits were weak flares; the point is that they were hits and Wieters had a total of four of them last night. They all look like line drives in the box score. There is absolutely no reason for sitting him while Huff DHs. Do you think Huff's outs were more valuable that Wieter's hits?
Come on, this is an atrocious, boneheaded move by Trembley, who seems to have deluded himself into thinking he can pull whatever managerial levers he wants, no matter how illogical, and retain his position regardless the outcome. If he keeps up stuff like this and pulling Bergesen for no food reason when the righthander had rolled through eight innings against Boston, he's going to be sadly disappointed when MacPhail gives him his walking papers.

Sorry Ken, I haven't had time to look it up. Was going to do a Google search, which probably would provide the answer. But I keep getting sidetracked. - Roch
Didn't Wieters have 4 hits last night. If you want to catch Zaun then DH wieters. Trembley is losing my support and 30 days ago I was totally behind him. Watch Huff go 5 for 5 with 2 home runs just because I decided to start coomplaining.
