Post-game Notes: O's win at LA
David Hernandez, in his first start since the news that Koji Uehara will miss two months, pitched a very solid game tonight. In 6 2/3, he gave up six hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
Hernandez, now 2-2, 4.15, threw 107 pitches, 73 strikes. It was his longest outing of the year, topping the 5 2/3 he had pitched twice previously. This is Hernandez's first career quality start. It was the O's 27th quality start of the year.

George Sherrill rebounded from his blown save of Wednesday, to pick up his 18th save in 21 chances. He needed 12 pitches to get through the ninth.
The O's won their first game of the year in four tries vs. the first-place Angels. They are now 6-14 vs. AL West opponents. They snapped a four-game road losing streak and are now 12-24 on the road.
Aubrey Huff was just 2 for 17 in his last four games. But he had two hits tonight including a three-run homer in the third. Huff has 11 homers on the year, this was his third in a road game. It's Huff's 19th multi-hit game and 12th multi-RBI contest. Huff has 14 RBI over his last 14 games.
Luke Scott went 1 for 5 with a first-inning two-run double. Scott is now 6 for 19 during a five-game batting streak with four doubles and 5 RBI.
After producing just seven runs on 11 hits in losing the previous two games, tonight the Birds had six runs on 10 hits. They are 28-5 on the year when they out-hit their opponent.
Nick Markakis went 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI. Over his last nine games, Markakis is batting .368 (14 for 38) with 8 RBI.
Melvin Mora went 2 for 5 with a double. He did not homer, however and has now gone 44 games and 166 at bats without a homer, both career long stretches without a longball.
The top four hitters in the LA lineup combined to go 1 for 14 tonight. Bobby Abreu went 0 for 3 with a walk after hitting two homers Thursday. Kendy Morales hit a two-run homer, his 14th. He is now batting .367 (11 for 30) during an eight-game hit streak.
The Angels lost for just the third time in 10 games and fall to 14-6 their past 20 games. The Angels are now 34-23 since May first. They have now lost just four of their past 12 home games.
The O's improve to 25-26 vs. non-AL East teams, 1-2 in July and 18-17 in games decided by two runs or less.

I have recovered from that awful loss finally. I no longer am angry.
I am back to my not-so guarded optimism.
How can you help but feel we are actually close to having a good team when we have Reimold and Bergesen looking like they may battle each other for Rookie of the Year? Then there is Wieters who is starting to get comfortable.
Then you keep bring up how well Arrieta, Matusz and Tillman are doing. And any neutral party would have to say all three guys look like they deserve a chance to pitch in the starting rotation next season. This will possibly push Guthrie and Uehara into other rolls or into a trade. Of course this is all just wishes now, but wishes based in plausiblity.
Then there is Andino. He looks to be a solid backup for Roberts and Izzy. Perhaps as he matures some he will grab the starting job from Izzy.
Pie is raw but seems to have something in there. He could figure it out.
I guess I really just actually see a light at the end of the tunnel. It doesnt look like a train either.
Maybe soon we will be dealing Boston a staggering amount of defeats and push their fans away!
