Post-games Notes: Angels take series finale
For the third time in the last five games, the O's held a four-run lead in a game, but lost that game. It started when they took a 5-1 lead to the 9th at home Wednesday vs. Boston and lost 6-5 in 11 innings.
Last night, the O's led LA 4-0 after 4 ½ innings and lost 11-4. Today, the Birds held an early 4-0 lead after 2 ½ innings but lost 9-6.
O's starter Rich Hill did not get a decision today. He allowed six hits and six runs in just 5 1/3 innings. Over his last three starts, his ERA is 13.15 (19ER in 13IP). In 13 innings in those starts he has given up 23 hits, including five homers. Hill has given up four runs or more in four of his last five starts.
After the Angels scored just nine runs in the first two games of this series, they scored 20 runs in the last two games.
In the final two games of the series, the O's bullpen gave up 10ER in just 6 2/3 innings. The O's team ERA over the last six games is 6.96.
Going into Saturday's game, Vladimir Guerrero had hit just two homers in his previous 37 games. He homered Saturday and Sunday for the Angels.
The Angels are 5-1 on the year vs. the O's. They have won 9 of 12 games and 16 of their last 22. They are 36-23 since May first.
Matt Wieters produced the first three-hit game of his career today, going 3 for 3 with two singles, a solo homer and a walk. Wieters homer in the 6th was his first this year as a right-handed hitter and gave the O's a 6-5 lead. Wieters is now 8 for 17 with 3 RBI during a five-game batting streak.
Luke Scott went 1 for 3, extending hit batting streak to seven games. During that streak, Scott is 8 for 25 with two homers and 5 RBI. Nolan Reimold went 0 for 5 in the game and is 1 for 17 over his last four games.
Brian Roberts entered in a 5 for 36 drought but hit a solo homer and two-run double among five at bats. Over his last three games, Roberts is 5 for 14 with three doubles. He has knocked in 17 runs in the last 23 games.
The LA bullpen was not scored on in this series. In the four games, the Angels' pen combined to pitch 12 innings, allowing no runs on six hits.
The O's now move on to Seattle for a three-game series that starts tomorrow night when Brad Bergesen (5-2, 3.53) will face Seattle's Jarrod Washburn (4-6, 3.36). Former Oriole Erik Bedard will face Jeremy Guthrie on Tuesday in that series.

any chance we will see Hill DFA'd anytime soon?
Steve
You know the minors pretty well, with the exception of the big 3 and maybe the Britton kid. What other legit pitching prospects do the Orioles have ?
Thank you

Some others to watch include Troy Patton, Brandon Erbe, John Mariotti, Tim Bascom and Rick Zagone to name a few. I still think Bob McCrory has a future in the O's bullpen. - Steve
Hill seems to be pitching his way out the door. I just hope when it does happen they don't try to find a way to stick him in the pen. I will be scared if we jump out early to a 4 run lead.
