Rookie honored

Outfielder Nolan Reimold has been named the American League's Rookie of the Month for June.

He got my vote.

Reimold batted .320 (24-for-75) in 26 games, with three doubles, four homers, nine RBIs, 13 runs scored and 13 walks. He continues to lead AL rookies with nine homers, 20 RBIs and a .510 slugging percentage, and is second with a .287 average and .363 on-base percentage.

Reimold also ranks in the top 10 among rookies in walks (17, second), extra-base hits (14, third), total bases (73, third), hits (41, fourth) and multi-hit games (nine, fourth).

Here's a stat I really like: He's batting .400 (10-25) with four homers and 15 RBIs with runners in scoring position.

Brad Bergesen also received some votes, and he would have been a deserving winner.

Nick Markakis was the last Oriole to win the honor in August 2006.

Good for Nolan He deserves it!!! Brad will get his if he keeps pitching like he has!!!! The other orioles should take notice to his approach at the plate( Markakis, wieters roberts etc)

Roch- just curious, who votes for the ROM award?

roch what would think of putting huff at third and salazar at first. huff played 3rd pretty well when asked last yr and the yr before.

True, but you'd be weakening both positions compared to the current arrangement. Mora is better at third and Huff is better at first. Still an option, though. - Roch

Reimold has realy impressed and has not even been with the team that long....Berggy is just as good pitching wise..we need lots more like both of them...

That is just really nice the league is seeing his talent and we are all proud of Nolan for sure! Well deserved and righteously so. He just really looks like a veteran whose played at the big league level for years! It is going to be fun watching him grow and he is already way past mature for his age.

Bergesen was nasty in June, despite only going 3-0 in 5 starts. Averaging 7.1 innings per start with a 2.23 ERA. Compared to other AL rookie pitchers, he was tops in June. I would have gone to him.

3-0 (W-L) 2.23 ERA, 5 GS, 1 CG, 36.1 IP, 25 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 7 BB, 19 SO

0.881 WHIP, 194/246/295/541 (OPP Hitting)

Congrats to Nolan. He is an awesome player. But, I think that Bergy deserved an award too. He was absolutly dominating in June. He averaged about 7 to 8 innings per start including a CG and had a 2.23 ERA in June. Bergy, and Reimold are awesome.

Any chances of him winning ROY?

Hey Roch and fellow readers. Does anyone know who does the voting for rookie of the month honors?

Ken Francis said:

Roch, Actually there are three stats you like: batting average, homers and runs batted in when there are runners in scoring position. Me, too. And they're definitely bankable for Nolan.

Next Oriole to win the honor: Brad Bergesen, Matt Wieters or Reimold again? And will it be this year? I think so; great chance one or more of them will come up big.

Go Nolan! He totally deserved it. I agree that Bergy is awesome too, though. I saw Tillman pitch tonight in Norfolk--really impressive! The young guys are eventually going to turn the O's around!
