Second time around
Jordan Zimmermann had all his pitches working for him the first time thru the Marlins lineup this afternoon.
But with two outs in the third, the top three batters in the lineup reached base, all on two-strike counts.
Hanley Ramirez doubled home two runs and Zimmerman now trails 2-1.
He tried to get too cute with Ramirez and he made him pay, taking a fastball on the outside corner and serving into right for a two-run double.
Zimmermann needs to put hitters away when he has them down in the count. If he's not comfortable with the pitch called, he has to shake off the catcher. He'll learn as he matures.
Zimmermann is pitching ahead of hitters, throwing first-pitch strikes to nine of the 13 batters he's faced thru three innings.
He's struck out five with out walking a batter while throwing 57 pitches, 43 for strikes. Zimmermann needed 32 to get out of the third.
Washington's offense has stranded six men thru three, including the bases loaded in the second and runners on second and third with one down in the third.

Or it's on the manager, just don't pitch to Hanley Ramirez. He always kills this team. Walk the bases loaded to face Ross Gload.

I agree, but he should've put Coghlan and/or Bonifacio away and never been in the situation. Pete
