| | Comments (3)

Game Preview
Orioles (36-45) at LA Angels (44-35)

After a disappointing 11-4 loss to the Angels Saturday night, the Orioles need a win this afternoon to split their four-game series in Anaheim.

Rich Hill (3-2, 7.08) will pitch vs. the Angels Joe Saunders (8-5, 4.24) at 3:35 p.m.

The O's then head to Seattle for the rest of this seven-game, West Coast trip. The Orioles are just 2-7 this year in West Coast games.

The Orioles have reached the halfway point of the season with 36 wins and are on a pace to finish with a record of 72 and 90.

Saturday, the Birds took a 4-0 lead, then watched LA score 11 unanswered runs. The O's contributed to their own demise with two errors and a pop up they let drop to give LA the go-ahead run in the 7th inning.

Vladimir Guerrero homered and knocked in four runs in the win. Guerrero homered for just the second time in 37 games. Torii Hunter added 3 RBI as LA's 11 runs was one off its season-best total.

The O's fall to 1-2 on this trip and 12-25 on the year on the road. They have lost five of the last six road games.

The O's have lost five of seven games overall and are just 4-8 in the last 12 games.

The Angels, tied with Texas for the AL West lead, have won eight of 11 and 15 of the last 21 games. They are 22-16 at home and 4-1 on the year vs. Baltimore.

Hey Steve, I am neverly overly optimistic when I see Rich Hill's name listed as SP. But we have found a way to win the ones we are not expected to. Unfortunately we lose the ones that we should win.

They've got a good record when he pitches. It certainly has not been all his doing and, after those last two outings, he really needs a good one today. - Steve
