Trembley talks about his suspension
| | Comments (8)

But first...Cesar Izturis will start tonight and Sunday. Robert Andino will start tomorrow.

Andino isn't the regular shortstop anymore, but he isn't forgotten. And manager Dave Trembley pulled Andino aside to make sure he understood.

"I brought Andino in," Trembley said. "Once Izturis is back, we're not going to forget the contributions Andino made while Izturis was on the DL."

Trembley wasn't comfortable talking about his two-game suspension, but the subject couldn't be avoided.

There's no appeal process in this instance - for the suspension, or the reporters' questions about it.

"It is what it is. We move on. The less attention we attract to it, for me, the better," Trembley said.

"The last time I was in the cooler was for three days against Toronto. Now it's two days against Toronto. I'm not surprised or shocked. It happened. I did what I did. Am I proud of the antics? No. Do I want it to be played over and over again so kids can see it? No. But it's something that I did to back up my team and deliver a message. I'm a very patient guy, but things happen in this game. It's a very emotional game. That's that.

"They feel like I was still giving instruction and was partaking in the game. I'm glad I gave the instructions to Luke Scott and he had that day. He had 7 RBIs that day.

"I won't be in the dugout and won't be in the clubhouse, so no one will be tempted to say I'm giving instructions."

When is the last time the O's had to send someone down to AAA that they did not want to lose and actually had some value?

PLEASE GET RID OF MELVIN MORA!!!! PLEASE.

Yes, I am giving some instruction.

Sometimes you just have to go out and defend your players...it's part of the job.

Nick said:

York Adam you are stupid for saying that! He is one of the best defensive third basemen in the game, and a veteran hitter. Yes I know he's in a slump right now but he will pick it up. He is also a great hitter to have up in the clutch. SO DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT MEL MO LIKE THAT.

The O's should pick up his option for 2010!

Roch,

This is a perfect example of how sharp AM is as the GM. Instead of risking losing a guy like Pie or Salazar, he does the smart thing and sends Hernandez down for 10 days so he can buy himself time to decide what to do about the roster situation. Also, in that time frame we could have an injury and delay the decision even further. What do you think will happen when there is no possible way around the numbers crunch? Do you think Pie or Salazar will be traded or can he sneak them through waivers? It just doesn't seem likely that we'll go with an 11 man pitching staff for very long.

Nothing like hearing Gary Thorne's nasaly voice. Still better than those Seattle guys I guess.

Thats complete BS that Dave got suspended. The umps blew the call clear as day and I love how WE end up paying the price. Its a complete joke.

If Trembley had kept his mouth shut after the ejection he wouldn't have been suspended. End of story.
