Uehara out two months with elbow injury

Wednesday, July 1:
Steve Melewski reports four Bowie Baysox have made the Eastern League All-Star team: "Four members of the Bowie Baysox have been named to play in the Eastern League All-Star game. They are second baseman Miguel Abreu, left fielder Jonathan Tucker and relievers Josh Perrault and Ryan Ouellette. They will join five players from Akron and Erie, four players from Reading and three players from Harrisburg and Altoona to make up the Southern Division Team." [masnsports.com]

Roch Kubatko says Koji Uehara's injury is serious: "The arthrogram on Koji Uehara's right elbow has revealed a partial tear of his flexor tendon, and he's expected to miss two months.

Uehara won't require surgery, but he'll need to rest for three to five weeks and take part in a throwing program." [masnsports.com]

Peter Schmuck wonders if the O's base-running could cost Dave Trembley his job: "Throughout his minor and major league coaching career, Dave Trembley has been known as a stickler for the little things. He wants the game played right, and he knows his future as Orioles manager depends on this year's team taking a significant developmental step forward over the next three months.

So it has to be frustrating for him to watch his club reduced to one of the worst base-running teams in baseball at this critical juncture in the organization's rebuilding process.

He took the job intent on putting the "fun" back in fundamentals, and now a long series of fundamental lapses is threatening to be his undoing." [Baltimore Sun]

Anthony Amobi writes the O's should be patient with Matt Wieters: "At the moment, the only way Wieters should even be sent down is if he is hurting the team at the plate, most notably behind the plate (crucial), and if he's really that overwhelmed. As I see it, he]'s still learning, so let's all be patient." [Oriole Magic]
