An authentic anthem
Could there be a better way to begin a baseball game than to watch the national anthem be performed on a Louisville Slugger? The crowd here at Nationals Park certainly doesn't think so.
Prior to Saturday's game, Glenn Donnellan of the National Symphony Orchestra performed the national anthem on his special violin bat. He received enthusiastic applause from fans in attendance.
Donnellan made the instrument for a presentation for children in Alabama. He then posted a YouTube video of himself playing the anthem and the reaction was incredible.
"It's just been a lot of fun. It's gratifying to see that people like it," he said prior to today's game.
Donnellan's a big baseball fan, but his schedule with NSO prevents him from getting to Nationals Park as often as he'd like. He will be performing at Turner Field in Atlanta on August 17th.
