Latest on Sarfate
Dennis Sarfate has returned to Baltimore, where he'll do some long tossing while waiting for rosters to expand on Sept. 1.
Sarfate completed his injury rehab assignment, which lasts 30 days for pitchers and 20 days for position players. With his approval, the Orioles will keep him on the disabled list as he continues to recover from a circulatory issue in his right hand that caused numbness in his middle finger.
Sarfate tossed a scoreless inning last night at Triple-A Norfolk, striking out two batters. He didn't surrender an earned run in three of his last four appearances, walking none and striking out five, but he leaves the Tides with a 6.39 ERA in 12 2/3 innings, with 13 hits allowed, two walks and 13 strikeouts.
The right-hander also made one appearance at Double-A Bowie and one at Single-A Frederick before joining Norfolk.
Keeping Sarfate on the disabled list prevents the Orioles from having to clear a roster spot. He's is out of options and would have to pass through waivers before being outrighted. This way, he stays in the organization. He just can't pitch for the Orioles until Sept. 1.

Logical move on Sarafate. Getting back to the Jones-Pie rift, I think you hit it on the head Roch. I think that AJ just wants EVERY ball off the bat. Really nothing wrong with that and a quality you WANT in a CF. Slight miscommunication and nothing more.
On a side note, the same thing happened with Cesar and Mora in the 7th inning. Neither wanted to give thier ground, and I thought that the body language Cesar showed (not even looking at Mora after he caught the pop) was at least as bad as what AJ did in the 9th.
Any thoughts on this, or did nobody else see that?
Sorry, in my Guthrie post earlier, I meant that Andrew should be trying to lay the foundations for a Guthrie trade in the offseason. My mistake. Too much beer while watching Man U hang 5 on Wigan.
JPA: Yes, it was a garbage time goal for Owen. But it was a pretty neat shot. Reminded me of a shot in pool.
Like most Man U fans, I think he just needs to get a few goals under his belt to get the confidence back. He was a free transfer and they are paying him as he plays, meaning if he breaks his leg tomorrow, United don't have to pay him while he's out. Low risk, potentially high reward signing.
My hope is that he becomes an impact sub. The kind of guy that can give the team a spark off the bench in the last 30 minutes of a game.
Newcastle is tearing up the Coca Cola league. Ameboi (sp.???) is on fire.
Roch,
There is an article on John Danks- he has a circulatory problem in his had. He quit tobacco because it is linked to circulatory problems. I hadn't this before.
Does Sarfate dip?

Don't know. Haven't seen him do it. - Roch
Hey terpfan,
I watched the call on the orioles.com and I'm still laughing. There was complete silence for Brian's entire trip around the basepath!! Only during the replay did the color guy begin speaking.
Yeah, Gary Thorne drives me nuts... I am often turning on 105.7... Joe Angel is funny as hell. Especially when we're losing. His mind starts wandering and I know Fred Manfra is rolling his eyes!! Good stuff.
However, I enjoy Palmer a great deal. He tells it like it is.
BTW: Someone else mentioned how Pie looks like a jester running around the outfield. I can't help but agree. I've been silent about it all year, but last night, I finally exploded. On a routine ball to left field, he pranced to the ball, dramatically scooped it up, twirled in a complete 360, and fired the ball back in.
He is so dramatic at everything he does. Good, bad, or indifferent, he is just SOOOO overly dramatic!
G Hal it is the MLB, everybody dips, literally
Roch,
Only one response so far to my trivial trivia question. I trust you won't mind if I "troll" for a few more answers; of course, you are eligible to jump in and put an end to the mystery.
Here is a trivia question that could be a tester: Since 1954, four pitchers who were property of the Baltimore Baseball Club, Inc. have been inducted into the Hall of Fame: Hoyt Wilhelm, Robin Roberts, and Jim Palmer – can you name the fourth before resorting to the Internet?
steve said: is the fourth one Don Larsen, considering it is since 1954? A perfect attempt, but Larsen is not in the HOF.
John in Sykesville, I really thought you made some good points in your last post.
Another John said:
"Abe Lincoln wasn't off the cover of GQ and I doubt he had much charm and charmisa . . . ." I think you underestimate the "Rail Splitter." I had the pleasure of hearing Abe in the courtroom, and on the stump. He was down right engaging with a deadpan delivery similar to Steven Wright. He had charmisa to burn, and his charisma was Kennedyesque.
JC:
I noticed that as well between Mora and Izturis, if I'm thinking of the same play. I thought it was very strange that Izturis didn't even look back to acknowledge Mora after making the catch... I got the impression that he purposefully ignored him jogging straight back to the dugout.
That is definitely the SS's ball, aren't they supposed to be in charge in the infield?!
It was a weird play.
Catching up on comments while on vacation. Thanks for the support, Baron. I wish everyone here had your attitude. I wish we could start a spinoff blog, free of the trolls and haters. Now that would really be something. Please post more often, as thoughtful commenters like you and sheets and Mark C, etc., tend to get drowned out in all the troll nonsense.

Lefty Grove spent his minor league years with the International League O's, thus making him a former property of Baltimore Baseball Club, Inc.
But he was inducted in 1947, thus failing the "since 1954" aspect. I'll keep working.
