Pre-games notes
Luke Scott was supposed to play tonight, but he's dealing with flu-like symptoms and is taking antibiotics.
"It was a 50-50 thing the other day for him to play," manager Dave Trembley said.
Nolan Reimold is serving as the designated hitter for three reasons: Scott's sick, Reimold is a little banged up - he walked past me a few days ago with ice wrapped on his knee and ankle - and Trembley wants to give Felix Pie some starts in left.
"I do consider the issues with him and the leg," Trembley said. "He'll be another guy who's going to play all the way through September, and he's never done that.
"During this series, I wanted to DH Reimold at least once and I wanted to get Pie out there."
Trembley noted that Reimold is better at going back on the ball, especially to his glove side, and has improved his throwing accuracy, but he still plays too deep on occasion.
Orioles infielders haven't committed a fielding (non-throwing) error in 25 games spanning 215 1/3 innings. Does anyone remember the last one?

Any news on the test Bergeson recieved on his leg earlier today?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test? His throwing program has been stopped for now. The Orioles are hoping he's pitching again by the end of August. That's all the news that I'm aware of. - Roch
MORA!!!!
Scott has also been terrible as of late...he's too streaky
This is a fun lineup
Roch,
You seem to be touting Waring. Please don't overlook Widlansky. The man is banging the ball at a more prolific rate than Waring. I'd like to see these four players inserted into the O's LU next year and watch the team grow into contenders:
Bell - 3b
Turner - 2b ( Naturally, trade here)
Widlansky -1b/DH
Waring 1b/DH
These guys will want to play for the O's and will bring some excitement to the team.
Oh, new manager and hitting coach is a must.
Last non-throwing error was a flubber off the side of Ty Wiggy's glove.. Same play was turned in the next day at my daughters pony league softball game.

Class, what would you think about trading Brandon Synder and maybe a pitcher(maybe Berkin or Patton) to the Padres for AG. They just might go for that. Would love to hear what everyone thinks.

If, thats all it would take to get Adrian Gonzalez, I wouldn't even hesitate...But San Diego's got to want a lot more then that. If they'd have given him up for those two, then the Red Sox would have gotten him this past trade deadline.
I'd say we'd have to give up 3 top prospects for him...say Snyder, Arrieta, and Bergeson.
Have been reading your blog all year Roch, great work, but my first post. Actually Reimold committed a fielding error Tuesday night on a ball in the gap that he took his eyes off of.

My question pertains to infielders. But you're right about Nolan. And glad that you posted. Keep 'em coming. - Roch
Trembley says Reimold plays too deep on occasion. Roch, is there any reason why someone in the dugout can't wave him in or have someone from the infield relay the correct position to him? It's not like every pitch is thrown within 5 seconds of each other. If this is a problem why can't the shortstop just communicate with the left fielder? Couldn't Reimold just look into the dugout when whomever is is coming up to bat? I ask several questions covering the same situation because this seems like an easy problem to remedy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It does seem like an easily corrected problem. I agree. - Roch
alcoates...you forgot about Brandon Snyder as well. He's not the biggest HR hitter, but you gotta have someone on base for those guys to knock in
Roch, I was listening to XM this morning and a Red Sox fan called in and was mad at Francona. He aked if other mangers beside Francona put the "B" team lineup all in one game. Substitute Trembley for Francona and it could have been many posters here. As much as we hate the Sox I think most people think Francona is a pretty good manager. The difference is probably that the Sox players come through more often then the O's players do.
I know this is a little off base but if they called up Bell after the roster expands in Sept. does it count as a option used?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope. - Roch
Roch,
What is the meaning behind the blue puzzle-piece lapel pin that Jim Palmer wears when he is broadcasting?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The assumption in the press box, after some deliberation, is autism awareness. - Roch
Yeah, the last error was the one by Wigginton at 3rd base that helped cost the Orioles the game - of course the official scorer ruled it a hit so this so-called "streak" is intact.
Wieters with a perfect throw.
Vlad is ridiculous. Ouch man, on the hop, the dirt, I was just telling someone about how he can actually do that.
Well that sure didn't take long. It's good CA had two runners thrown out on the bases or that inning could have been a complete disaster.
Aubrey Huff.
Amazing - Vlad Guerrero gets a hit off a ball that bounced.
Roch - Is it legal for infielders to carry a flag in their pocket . . . one they can waive that indicates whom the outfielders should throw the ball to?
HUGE Huff.
Whoa, check out what some patience gets us.
Way to atone for that crap throw Pie. Good job not getting thrown out at home Mora.
Hey Roch
Can we at least once have a prospect dominate for a night?
All I want is Wieters to hit a 3 run homer and Tillman give up 2 runs.
Of course He gives up 2 runs in the 1st inning and Weiters stikes out with 2 men on. All I hear is how young these guys are, but when should we expect these prospects to live up to their potential.
I want Weiters to look like Beckham and Tillman to look like Hanson. Is that to much to ask?

Wieters looked pathetic in his first at-bat (K with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out). I know he is supposed to be a great prospect but until he starts to show something offensively, how can people keep saying that he should be moved up in the batting order? He should be hitting in the 8 hole until he shows something with the bat. I suspect if anybody kept track of soft, bloop hits, he would be up in the league leaders with "cheapies". His average is only as high as it is due to an inordinate number of soft hits because he has not been driving the ball. Give the guy a break and let him develop in the bottom of the order! Then move him up when he shows more offensively.
is it me or does pie have same amount of homeruns as wieters and just as my rbi in probally 50 less at bats
