Rizzo on Managerial Search
Mike Rizzo was asked today, during his comments on new hires in the front office, about the search for a manager for the Nationals in 2010:
"We are trying to get our ducks in a row. The front office was my first concern. We are in the midst of making phone calls as we whittle the list down to a more manageable list. We have a terrific manager already in house in Jim Riggleman and he has as good a chance as anyone to continue on (as manager). The search will get very serious in the near future but my first priority was to take care of the front office."
Rizzo was asked if the decision could come after the World Series:.
"Because of where we are in the process and some of the people we may be discussing (the opening) with its difficult for me to forecast when the decision will be made and it could (very well) go through the post season."
Looks like at least November to me...
