Zimmerman Nominated for Jefferson Award
Ryan Zimmerman was among 15 baseball players and 53 athletes nominated for the prestigious Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service. Fans can text STAR49 to 55333 to vote for Ryan. Fans can also vote online.
Zimmerman was nominated through All Stars Helping Kids for his work with the ziMS Foundation, the MS Society National Capital Chapter, the Stop on Red campaign and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.
Zimmerman has assisted with youth clinics and education and recreational programs, helped to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and visited with blood donors at the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
This season, he also donated $250,000 to the Athletics Department at the University of Virginia.
The Jefferson Award is a prestigious national award honoring community and public service in America.
