Zimmerman Named ESPN's Web Gem Champion
For several years now, we've almost come to take his defense for granted. Very few balls get past the diving, often acrobatic Zimmerman, who consistently makes stunning, nearly-impossible plays look easy.
As a result of his defensive prowess, Zimmerman collected the most web gems and web gem points from ESPN throughout the season. And tonight, the network is naming him their first ever Web Gem Champion.
Buster Olney reported today that Zimmerman will also be a special guest on tonight's Best of Baseball Tonight Web Gem Awards beginning at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN 2.
According to the Washington Times, Zimmerman's lead helped the Nationals also secure the best overall team award.
