Erbe will miss 'Rising Stars' game in Arizona
One of the O's top pitching prospects, Brandon Erbe, has a minor injury that will cause him to miss the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars game set for this Saturday night.
"A couple of days ago, during pre-game stretching and running, Brandon tripped and fell and jammed the pinky finger on his right hand," O's Director of Player Development David Stockstill said.
"It was X-rayed and the X-rays were negative but there is some swelling. He missed a start (today) and will not pitch in the game on Saturday night."
Stockstill said he expects the finger to be improved by next week, but if not, Erbe would see a hand specialist out in Arizona.
The 21-year-old right hander was 0-0, 2.00 in three starts so far in the AFL. In nine innings he allowed eight hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
This summer at Double-A Bowie, Erbe went 5-3, 2.34 in 14 Baysox starts. He was drafted in round three in 2005 out of Baltimore's McDonogh High.
"He played catch just fine today, so we don't anticipate any other problems with this," Stockstill said. He also added that they expect Erbe to pitch in upcoming AFL games.
Erbe will likely be replaced on the team by either Eddie Gamboa or Josh Perrault, both O's minor leaguers.
In other news, third baseman Josh Bell may also be added to the Rising Stars game due to an injury.
Earlier, Brandon Snyder was selected to play in the game on Saturday night.

Seems odd that Bell wasnt selected in the first place considering his prospect status and his performance in the AFL so far... Be nice to see him get selected
Steve,
Did I hear correct that the game is to be broadcast on MASN?
