An award and several weekend appearances
| | Comments (2)

On a beautiful day like today, it's easy to spend the afternoon daydreaming about a spring training trip to Florida. After all, it sure feels more like March than November here in Washington D.C.

Just a few notes to pass your way:

Today, the Arizona Fall League announced that Stephen Strasburg was selected as Pitcher of the Week. During one start last week, Strasburg collected six strikeouts in five innings while allowing four hits and one earned run. Strasburg has a 3-1 record, a 5.28 earned-run average and 17 strikeouts. Has anyone figured out how to purchase Desert Dog t-shirts yet?

Nats320 has a wonderful re-cap of the 4th annual ziMS Foundation Gala and Golf Tournament. As always, it looks like everyone had a great time golfing and enjoying the auction while raising a lot of money for MS research and cures. John Lannan, Craig Stammen, Joel Hanrahan, David Wright and Michael Cuddyer were there to support Ryan Zimmerman and his cause.

Lannan and Stammen quickly made it back to Washington to appear at Bethesda Big Train's annual dinner and auction on Sunday evening. More on that event coming soon!

Congrats to Strasburg on the pitching award. I've not been able to find any info on AFL merchandise. You'd think that MLB would make it easier for people to spend money... ;-)

No knock on the pitching award, but when I first saw the link to this item the first thing that came to my mind was Gold Glove. I see on the MLB important dates page (URL below) that the AL and NL Gold Glove awards are scheduled to be announced tomorrow. Hope that you'll have cause for another awards posting soon!

Thanks - I think the NL is actually on Wednesday. We'll be waiting anxiously! Zimmerman is very deserving! - Kristen

Yeah, I was faked out by the MLB awards page, which originally had only the November 10 date listed. Time to hurry up and wait again. :-)
