Nats re-sign Olsen, continue talks with MacDougal
I spoke with General Manager Mike Rizzo about re-signing starting pitcher Scott Olsen. They have signed the left-hander to a one-year contract.
The Nats get a deal on Olsen. They signed Olsen for a reported $1 million dollars, instead of the possible $4 or $5 million he could have received if he'd gone to arbitration.

Of course, there also are reported incentives involved that, if met, can boost Olsen's salary back to that $4 million dollar range.
On Olsen's health, I asked Rizzo if he feels Olsen is 100 percent healthy: "We think so. We will see in spring training."
The Nats think Olsen can return to his 200 innings pitched seasons from a couple of years ago and be that work horse in the middle of their rotation.
Olsen came to the Nats from the Marlins after the 2008 season.
He suffered a left labrum tear and only pitched in 11 games with a 6.03 ERA. But in the last three full seasons prior to 2009, he had made at least 30 starts per year.
Rizzo says they are also in contact with Mike MacDougal's representatives and hope things get worked out on that front, but it's "too early to tell."
