Five things I know I know
| | Comments (5)

1) The Skins would struggle to score 51 points in a game, even if you spotted them 30. I hope Jim Zorn was at home taking notes. Not that it matters for the Redskins. But if he ever gets a chance to run an offense again, he needs to sit down with Mike McCarthy and Ken Whisenhunt and take a look at their playbooks. The Cardinals and Packers threw downfield more in one game than the Redskins did all season.

2) Kurt Warner might retire after this season, but he could still play at least another three years. It's a shame that helmet technology hasn't improved enough to protect even the most protected players on the field.

3) The media is being reckless and overreacting to Gilbert Arenas' careless post-gun incident actions. Gilbert-Arenas-.jpg Nobody can deny that Gilbert acted like an idiot making hand gestures and tweeting nonsense in the aftermath of his locker room gun prank. He knows better and deserves to be punished for whatever laws he broke. Whatever the average person gets for the charges he faces, he should get. But to potentially suspend him for the season, costing him $12-$14 million in salary for being insensitive, stubborn and callous is absurd. Some people say he should never play in the NBA again. Are they crazy? He tried to make light of a very serious situation. It was a bad move. But he didn't try to hurt anybody. He didn't drink and drive and potentially kill anybody as numerous athletes have. He didn't fire his weapon outside a club as other's have. He didn't assault his wife or girlfriend as countless others have. He made a few bad jokes. He tried to handle a bad situation with humor. Bad decision. But on the scale of bad decisions, his hand gestures and comments are way down the list as far as I'm concerned.

4) The Terps got a much needed win to kick off conference play against Florida State. Even though William & Mary is better than people think, the Terps used to never lose at home to non conference opponents. After losing the last few seasons to Ohio, American and Morgan State at Comcast, the William & Mary loss seemed to forecast another long season for the Terps. Maybe those of us who thought of writing them off again were being premature. Again.

5) Pete Carroll is getting out at the right time. ESPN is reporting that Carroll has indeed accepted the Seattle Seahawks head coaching position. Why would you leave USC after 98 wins and two National Championships? It's simple actually. The program is slipping just a bit and eventually the Reggie Bush scandal will result in serious sanctions from the NCAA. If somebody gives you $35 million to leave a sticky situation, wouldn't you jump ship too?

Arenas should be suspended for the rest of the season. Not only was his tweets and trying to make light of it idiotic, but he brought a firearm into WORK! IN DC! Im positive that if you worked in DC, and brought a gun to your work loaded/unloaded, you'd be fired or suspended indefinetly too.

The Terps need a good win against one of the arch rivals (Duke, UNC, Wake) before I will call this a resurgence. At the same time, you have to be kind of encouraged.

Pete Carroll will not have any great success in Seattle, mostly because the cheerleading and fun-guy attitude only goes so far with professionals. Also, one draft pick isn't going to turn the franchise around. Perhaps they should tank next year so that he can draft Barkley, or maybe Matt Leinart will be available via free agency.

Listen Here Ricky!!! I want you try taking a gun into the studio and pull it out on the other guys (loaded or unloaded) and see what happens to you. I would bet a hunsky that you would serve some amount of time in jail and be fired from your job even if you thought it was harmless. EB usually I agree with you but I can't have your back on this one. I have to say you are definitely my DOW!!!
