It Can't Happen!

If Mark Sanchise wins Sunday it would be one of the greatest stories in the history of sports. It would be on par with George Mason's run to the Final Four or Michael Phelps' 8 golds in Beijing.

Think about this. Sanchez threw 20 picks this year in the regular season. He threw three or more in a game four times. His QB rating was only better than two starters (Stafford and Freeman). This can't be happening and I promise it won't.

Peyton Manning is going to the Super Bowl and he will face Brett Favre. Look, the Jets run the ball extremely well and their offensive line is fantastic, but to win at Cincy, SD and Indy is nearly impossible with a QB who throws for 100 yards.

Mark-Sanchez.jpg

He has 24 completions in two post-season games for less than 290 yards. At some point he will have to throw the ball. At some point he will have to prove he can come from behind and lead the Jets.

You can't totally rely on Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene. Let's be honest, the Jets' D is solid, but Manning will not wilt like Rivers did.

Rivers was just trying to stay alive yesterday. He panicked. He didn't look like a Pro Bowler to me. His receivers didn't help him much, but Manning will make the plays that Rivers couldn't. Factor in the dome's noise, and it's over for Sanchez and fat man Rex.

We will see one of the greatest Superbowl matchups ever with two of the top five QBs facing each other. And yes, Manning and Favre are both in the top five of all time. Add Montana, Elway and Unitas and there is your list.

My predictions: Minny 34 Norl 28 and Indy 27 NY 14

Just got back from Vegas so I have to sleep for 72 straight hours. Until next time.

Out.

Realistically, the Colts SHOULD win, but I am still rooting for the Jets to pull off the upset. I think it would be appropriate if the Jets knock off the Colts since Indy threw away a chance for history by practically throwing away that game against the Jets that ended their unbeaten streak. Say what you will about the Saints, but they were TRYING to win when they lost to the Cowboys at the Superdome.

If only Cakes had written this post, every reader could book: Brees...Sanchez...it's the Super Bowl on CBS!

In all seriousness, I think it would be terrific to see a Vikes-Colts matchup in the big game. Mostly because I would like to see Brett "Pants on the Ground" Favre win, retire, and not talk about un-retiring until Aaron Rodgers is ready to retire, and he considers coming back to the Packers to play as a 53-year old.

Peyton vs Rex Ryan defense said:

2005 Peyton beats a Rex Ryan defense 24-7 throws for 254 and 2 tds no picks
2006 Peyton wins 15-6 despite 15-30 with 2 picks no tds
2007-2008 Peyton plays Ryan twice throws for 7 TD's no picks wins both.

The only time Peyton has lost to a Ryan D was week 16 this year...and we all know what happened there. Bet Ram's Vegas earnings on the Colts.

Lurch Popa, I agree with your assesment. But, I can't forget what Trent Dilfer did with the Ravens.I'm sure the Exxon "Valdez" will also remember the 2001 "No touchdowns in 5 games season." Rarely, but, sometimes the Q.B. is ballast for a team playing with a great D and a purpose. Just a thought.

It can't happen, and it won't...Sanchez can go back to selling oranges on the side of the highway in the offseason.
