Sherry named to top 'Singles in Smalltimore'
| | Comments (6)

You probably know that Nicole Sherry is only the second woman to hold the position of Head Groundskeeper for a Major League Baseball team.

But did you know that she's also listed in Baltimore Magazine's top singles in "Smalltimore"?

Nicole-Sherry-2.jpg

Pictured in a short black dress and matching high heels - a far cry from the khakis, orange polos, and sneakers we're used to seeing her sport at Camden Yards - Sherry made a list of 12 notable singles in Baltimore.

The magazine's feature points to "the joys, and sometimes sorrows, of dating in a big city that feels like a small town" (hence the "Smalltimore"). But Sherry's answers to the profile questions are anything but sorrowful, as the O's head groundskeeper shows her humorous side with favorite movies like Tommy Boy and a celebrity dream date of Will Ferrell.

She might personally check the weather obsessively during the baseball season, but she gets her news from "Betty, my 81-year-old neighbor." She might take pride in keeping The Yard in major league shape, but privately she exults in little things like having reached expert level on "Crazy Train" on Guitar Hero 3. And she might look as fit as the athletes who share her ballfield, but she'd take a full rack of barbecued ribs if she had to choose a last meal.

For more from the O's head groundskeeper, check out the article on Baltimore Magazine's website, and see if you can pick out Sherry in the photos posted there.

Hi this is Nicole the groundskeeper and I love your post but I am hoping there is still time to photo shop in a better picture then the one posted. My mom and dad would be happier and I wouldn't get 5 emails from them saying that I never smile or that orange really is not a flattering color on me! I'm really excited for the 2010 season and I can't wait to watch all of the young talent excel on the field this year! See you all at the Yard and GOOOO O's!

Hi Nicole, No problem-I swapped the original photo out for a new one. Congrats on making Baltimore Magazine's list--their photo is much better than the one I pulled from the O's photo archive too! Looking forward to when the snow melts and the field starts to look like itself again. See you around the Yard again soon. -Kate

Dear Nicole,
Hello! My name is Ian. I've been an Orioles fan like millions of Marylanders since I was very young! I'm single and 38 - will be 39 - have no kids - and Elrod Hendricks came to my elementary school when I was a boy, and I've met the Oriole Bird and admire Cal Ripken Jr. of course! I love Crazy Train and music and video games with music and music in general! I have always played the drums since I was a 2 year old. Can I treat you to coffee? My email is ianscott333@yahoo.com - my Dad is a pediatrician, a doctor for kids and there was a Nicole Sherry who was a kids doctor so I almost couldn't contact you! Will Ferrell is hilarious!! I'm not him, I am Ian but I'll see any of his movies over and over, and Tommy Boy is laugh at loud! I love the O's, love to have a great time, and I'd love to meet you for coffee or lunch - my treat! If you get 50,000 men asking you out, they are all married or Yankee's fans - pick me and I'll treat you to lunch or coffee so we can date and be friends Nicole!
O!! say does that star spangled banner...
from ian

If your wanna get away from the city and come live a little slower paced life, come to York,PA. I would introduce you to some very nice people. As for myself, I am happily married. We could all double date, hit up Ski Roundtop, spend a day on the river, enjoy some local baseball or just whatever people feel.

Orange not a flattering color? Au contraire; Nicole Sherry can look great wearing a burlap bag after a five hour rain delay.
