Some on Modell and the HOF
| | Comments (0)

Saturday, February 6:
Dan Kolko writes on the Ravens penalties: "The Ravens players and coaches certainly hope it won't have to come to that. But it's clear that the team's lack of discipline frustrated Bisciotti this season, and he's made limiting penalties one of his top priorities for 2010." [masnsports.com]

Jamison Hensley reports on Troy Smith's trade request: "The agent for Ravens backup quarterback Troy Smith is insisting that he made a trade request to the Ravens in late December.

On Wednesday, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said he never received a formal trade request from Ralph Cindrich, Smith's agent." [Baltimore Sun]

Aaron Wilson looks at Art Modell and the Hall of Fame: "Former Baltimore Ravens majority owner Art Modell remains a polarizing figure when it comes to his struggling candidacy for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Named as a semifinalist for the sixth time in seven years, Modell didn't make the cut to 15 finalists last month and isn't up for consideration today in South Florida when voters select the inductees for this 2010 class of Hall of Famers.

Why is Modell having so much trouble getting into Canton?

Primarily, it's because of his controversial relocation of the Cleveland Browns to Maryland 14 years ago. Plus, there are several other deserving candidates, with a strong tendency toward inducting players over coaches, owners and executives." [Carroll County Times]

James Walker gives a reason why he snubbed Le'Ron McClain in his 'Fab 40': "Someone had to get shortchanged, and McClain was the biggest snub this year, in my opinion. If I were doing 41 players he probably would be on the list. But similar to Vickers, it came down to position value. I chose to put good receivers, running backs and linebackers, for example, ahead of a great fullback because of that player's impact in games. Still, I wouldn't argue against the opposing view that McClain deserves recognition." [ESPN.com]
