Pre-game Trembley
| | Comments (14)

Not much to report from manager Dave Trembley's pre-game media session.

We already knew that the club is looking for two innings or 35 pitches from right-hander Brad Bergesen.

"Whichever comes first," Trembley said.

The Orioles will reevaluate Brian Roberts tomorrow and try to get him back on the field.

"We're hoping that," Trembley said. "That would be nice."

Trembley wouldn't elaborate when I asked whether he'll begin to rotate guys at second base in case Roberts isn't ready for Opening Day and the Orioles need to look in-house for a replacement.

"I think Andy (MacPhail) has addressed that," he said. "I could start moving some guys around, but what I'd like to do first is get a report from Richie (Bancells) and the doctor tomorrow and see where we're at with Brian. But I think at this point you have to have a Plan B. I would agree with you."

Trembley did confirm that Ty Wigginton could be an option at second base, though he'll start at first base on Friday.

"I'll probably end up talking to him about it," Trembley said.

Justin Turner and Craig Tatum are launching balls over the left field fence in batting practice. Either this is a hitter's park or Mike Bordick doesn't have his good stuff.

Good to hear this from Trembley. You always need a Plan B, no matter how sure you are of Plan A.

So what's plan B Andy?

I for one wish Dorian G's mom had Plan B. So much misery could have been avoided.

Dorian Gray...

... What's your plan B? Just curious as to picture YOU would paint for the Orioles plan B.

Dorian G - see any good movies lately or read any old Oscar Wilde books such as "Dorian Gray" that may have clouded your world view, or at least your Orioles view?

-----------Movie Synopsis below from IMDB with comments in CAPS-----

Fresh-faced and innocent, Dorian Gray (BRUMMIE/JACK/PAUL) arrives in London (SOUND FAMILIAR?) to move into the house he has inherited. Almost immediately he falls under the influence of amoral and calculating Lord Henry Wotton (BRUMMIE/JACK/PAUL/NESTOR - WHOEVER THE OTHER GUY IS THAT'S LEADING THE CULT OF 2), leading to a life of increasing debauchery and even violence (OBSESSIVE NEGATIVITY TOWARDS THE ORIOLES FRANCHISE). Through many years Gray stays as young-looking as ever, while a portrait painted when he arrived grows old, reflecting his increasing excesses (NEGATIVE POSTS AND ATTITUDE). Eventually the picture, now secreted in his attic, becomes almost hideous to behold (A TOXIC PRESENCE). When true love finally enters his life (THE O'S TURN IT AROUND AND BECOME A WINNING FRANCHISE) he realises he must guard his secret at all costs (CREATE ALIAS IDENTITIES TO CONTINUE SPEWING HIS ANTI-O'S VENOM).

Dorian,

Roch posted an article yesterday where Mr. Mcphail talks about looking at some options to replace Roberts if he isn't ready. I doubt your gonna get an in depth answer from him since your all the way in Berlin, and he probably doesn't need to answer directly to individual fans(although I'm sure you are very important.) So you will just need to wait and see like the rest of us.

j-dub, that was funny, that is too much. Hopefully Dorian can take it like he dishes it!

I second that motion.

Bergy needs to just stay healthy....B Rob hopefully is OK soon....still worrisome..Wiggy at 2B seems fsr fetched if they have Andino or Turner...but if Wiggy can do that too then we should be OK and not panic if B Rob is slow to heal.....Wiggy and Andino are no lead off guys but someone will have to step up until B Rob is 100% if that is the case...hopefully it is not even an issue if we are lucky.

Nicely done j-dub. And hang in there, Roch. A few sociopaths try to spoil this special blog you've built, but the great bulk of us deeply appreciate your incredible devotion and totally have your back. I only wish you'd give yourself permission to delete the offenders rather than wasting a moment's thought on them. Good luck getting back to your car safely.

amarie: When I read Roch's comments I immediately thought of your post, and I'll bet most of us did. One ignores amarie at one's peril.

Before I forget, Go O's!

DT always seems more reactive than proactive in his responses. Maybe on purpose to not be completely transparent about potential problems. Or maybe that's just his style. Almost sounded as if talking to Wiggy about 2B hasn't ever happened even though everyone knows it's part of what Wiggy offers. Not that I'm wanting Ty at 2B either. I've seen his throws. C'mon Brian get healthy!

Game is on MLB network right now. Somehow I missed that - thought some others might have missed that too.

Best. Network. Ever.

Nice first inning. I wish Turner hadn't swung at ball two and grounded out with the bases loaded or we might have really opened things up.
