John Lannan started Opening Day for the Nats, but struggled at the beginning of the year so he was optioned to Double-A Harrisburg. Joel Peralta didn't make Washington's Opening Day roster, but since his midseason call up, Peralta has been very reliable out of the Nats' bullpen. In 34 innings this season, Peralta has a glowing 2.65 ERA and has struck out 30 batters. Ryan Zimmerman's ziMS Foundation is hosting "A Night at the Park" on Aug. 9. Debbi talked with Winston Lord, an associate of Ryan's, about the upcoming event for the foundation. Ross Detwiler made his first appearance in the Major Leagues since last October, on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He had been recovering from his February hip surgery. Detwiler has been rehabbing in the minors and earned his way back to the Nationals' rotation. He said that his new mechanics have put less stress on his hip.
