John Lannan started Opening Day for the Nats, but struggled at the beginning of the year so he was optioned to Double-A Harrisburg. Joel Peralta didn't make Washington's Opening Day roster, but since his midseason call up, Peralta has been very reliable out of the Nats' bullpen. Ross Detwiler made his first appearance in the Major Leagues since last October, on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He had been recovering from his February hip surgery.
